Hyundai IT shows off 70-inch multitouch table concept

There’s not a ton of details on this one just yet, but Hyundai IT is reportedly showing off this 70-inch multitouch table at at the Korea Electronics Show this week — in concept form, at least. While there’s no specs — apart from the fact that it’s “HD” — Hyundai is apparently saying that you’d be able to use the display either as a Surface -like multitouch table or as a TV, although it’s not clear if that means it actually tilts up. Contrary to appearances, however, the table apparently doesn’t function as a phone. Here’s hoping Hyundai will actually show it off in action once the show gets underway. X-Prize Foundation and Indian Government to Launch Prize for Clean Cookstoves

Photo: Flickr , CC A couple weeks ago, Matt wrote a great post about why access to clean-burning and efficient cookstoves is so important, especially for people in poorer regions of Africa, Asia and South America. It might seem like a small thing, but it’s actually one of the biggest problems in most of these places, right after access to clean water and sanitation, causing about 2 million premature deat… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Heh : One Democrat running for reelection for a conservative seat is bragging about his loyalty — to John Boehner. “Bill Owens didn’t vote with Nancy Pelosi 93 percent of the time,” the narrator says, responding to an attack ad from his Republican rival in a conservative Upstate New York district. “He voted with the Republican leader 63 percent of the time.” Owens, elected in a special election after a Republican civil war earlier this year, now faces a unified challenge from the right. UPDATE: National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Ken Spain points to a Washington Post chart that shows Owens voting with his party 93 percent of the time and accuses Owens of “lying about his record.” Owens is the guy who won the seat that conservatives fought over a few months ago. That seat should have gone to a Republican last time but the party self-destructed.

Palm Pre 2 in the wild?

Okay, now that we’ve got a bigger shot of this thing, we can definitely say that it’s neither a Pre nor a Pre Plus … so assuming it’s not some sophisticated fake, you’re feasting your eyes on Palm’s next-gen model here. Given how close it is to the model it’ll presumably be replacing, we can’t help but feel like the Pre 2 should’ve actually been the phone we call the Pre Plus today — and it should’ve launched six (or more) months ago — but in the event webOS 2.0 doesn’t come to older devices, we suppose that alone will be the impetus some current owners need to upgrade. ‘Course, the 1GHz processor should be nice, too. Hit up the source link for a few more shots of it slinking around the wild; meanwhile, we await Palm’s move on an official announce. Habey’s ENT-6564 nettop packs Ion and Atom D510 power for potent playback

The nettop hits, they just keep on coming. This one’s from Habey , who we’ve seen delivering a number of microATX wunder-machines over the years. Its latest delivers Intel’s latest 1.6GHz Atom, the dual-core D510 , and pairs it with Ion 2 graphics to deliver a system capable of 2560 x 1600 output over HDMI, easily handling 1080p or, as you can see in the video after the break, triple Flash video playback without much of a hiccup. There’s gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 wireless, four USB ports, and 250GB of storage. Price? Well, that’s up in the air. Like many of the company’s products this is really meant to be bought in bulk, so we’re guessing the cost is wholly dependent on how many of these you want for your business or man cave. But, if you’re the DIY sort, you can just get the board itself, the MITX-6564, complete with graphics and processor and dual slots just waiting for your DIMMs. Again, though, no price for mere consumers. Update: Ya’ll never fail to impress. Moments after this post went live commenter Brent found these for sale (individually) at a reasonable $329 . photo: Wayne National Forest / Creative Commons The latest, and third, edition of the Schott Solar Barometer report has been released with similar results to last year: Overwhelming people in the United States are enthusiastic about solar power, think the government should do more to support it and less to support fossil fuels, and would like to get more personally involved with solar. The New York Times On The Food Revolution- Plus A Michael Pollan Article

This weekend’s New York Times Magazine was their annual food issue, about a subject dear to TreeHugger’s heart: “how the food revolution- from farm to table- is really a story about seeding and savouring communities.” Christine Muhlke, in Growing Together, notes the food revolution covers both the scrappy urban farm in Detroit and the upscale farmers market, and that it is not without its issues and conflicts: Class issues are inevitable with a movement driven by the college educated, regardless if they can sweat $2… Read the full story on TreeHugger
