We just learned that deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon saw an amazing 1000% spike in December , and now some sobering news about deforestation in Southeast Asia : Mongabay reports than Sumatra and the Indonesian part of Borneo (Kalimantan) lost 9.2% of their forest cover, some 5.4 million hectares, between 2000 and 2008.
