South-Korea to Invest $8.2B In Massive Offshore Wind Farms

Offshore wind power is a great fit for the country, which is probably why the government and private companies have decided to invest 9.2 trillion won ($8.2 billion) in offshore wind farms. A 100 MW pilot wind farm is scheduled to come online by 2013, to be followed by a 900 MW one by 2016, and then an additional 1,500 MW of further capacity by 2019, for a total of 2,500 MW and 500 turbines (huge 5 MW ones!)… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Bush writes that his reply was “Damn right” and states that he would make the same decision again to save lives, according to a someone close to Bush who has read the book. Bush previously had acknowledged endorsing what he described as the CIA’s “enhanced” interrogation techniques – a term meant to encompass irregular, coercive methods – after Justice Department officials and other top aides assured him they were legal. “I was a big supporter of waterboarding,” Vice President Richard B. Qantas grounds A380s after Singapore air drama

Singapore: Australia’s Qantas Airways grounded all its Airbus A380s Thursday after an engine failure forced one of the superjumbos to make a dramatic emergency landing in Singapore with more than 450 people aboard. The explosion in one of the four Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines, which showered metal debris on to an Indonesian city, was the double-deck A380′s first mid-air emergency. Qantas, which has never suffered a fatal jet crash in its 90-year history, said it was grounding all six of its A380s and other airlines said they were making checks on their aircraft on the recommendation of Rolls-Royce.
