San Francisco: Boeing suspended test flights of its 787 Dreamliner planes on Wednesday after an electrical fire forced the emergency landing of one of the next-generation passenger jets. The incident has fanned fears of further delays to the Dreamliner programme, which is already almost three years behind schedule with the first planes due for delivery to Japan’s All Nippon Airways in early 2011. The latest Dreamliner glitch erupted when a test plane was coming in to land at Laredo, Texas. Continue reading …It may not solve some of the problems involved with actually running Android on an iPhone , but the recently released Bootlace 2.1 application for jailbroken iPhones does at least make the installation process easier than ever. Unfortunately, it only works with the iPhone 2G and 3G at the moment, but it will let you install Android 2.2 (a.k.a Froyo ) directly on the device without the need for a computer. Now a Swiss pharmaceutical company called Novartis AG is developing the Ingestible Event Marker (IEM), a chip that can be embedded in medication and, upon being activated by the patient’s stomach acid, will send the doctor biometric data that gauges the drug’s effectiveness (including heart rate, body temp, and body movements) via Bluetooth. The plan is to introduce the technology to monitor transplant recipients, although it could be expanded to other uses as well. If bioequivalence tests demonstrate that the device doesn’t alter the effects of the pills, you could see ‘em submitted for regulatory approval in Europe in the next 18 months. I think a little uprising against the groping government would be a very good thing. For awhile people were willing to put up with being treated as terrorists because we were all in the fight together. But after nine years has passed since 9/11 people just want to be able to fly where they want without being treated inappropriately or with undue suspicion.
