Yes, this is what happens when the iPhone 4 and the iPad mingle in the back alleys of Shenzhen and bring mutant KIRF -y children to CES. The EYO T8100 is a dumbphone boasting a (likely resistive) 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen, quad-band GSM radio, dual SIM slots, two megapixel rear camera (with flash), VGA front camera, analog TV tuner, Java support, and WiFi, all wrapped in a silver / black, white, or pink package. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head Saturday, on Facebook lists her favorite quote as this line from Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural address: “With malice toward none, with charity for all, … let us strive on to finish the work we are in, … to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.” Sadly relevant given the day’s events, and the fate of the author of those moving words. The police have identified Jared Lee Loughner as the suspect in the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and a dozen others at a Giffords’ event at a Safeway grocery store in Tucson. Internet postings, including a MySpace page and a YouTube account, belonging to a “Jared Lee Loughner,” age 22 of Tucson have been identified, but haven’t been confirmed definitively as his. But as for when it comes out, well… the Wall Street Journal is saying (by way of its long-standing sources ) near the end of the month. It’s been raining tablets here at CES 2011 . No seriously, it as if the sky has opened up in Vegas and dropped touchscreen slabs with Android and Windows 7 operating systems on our heads.
