Red Arrows jet crashes after Bournemouth air show

Plane belonging to Royal Air Force’s aerobatics display team plunged to the ground in Dorset after a demonstration A Red Arrows jet has crashed in Dorset following an aerobatics display, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed. The plane belonging to one of the Royal Air Force’s aerobatics display team plunged to the ground near Bournemouth Airport in Dorset after a demonstration at the town’s air festival. An MoD spokesman said: “We can confirm that we are aware of an incident involving one of the Red Arrows and we are investigating.” The Bournemouth Air Festival said events were continuing as scheduled. The Red Arrows are famous for their airborne stunts, multicoloured vapour trails, dramatic flypasts and trademark diamond formation. Formed in 1965, the arrows have flown more than 4,000 displays in 53 countries. Their red single-engine jet trainers are a familiar sight at air shows and military events. Ayen Chol Killed In Australian Home By Dog

MELBOURNE, Australian — Australian police say a 4-year-old girl has been killed inside her suburban Melbourne home by a neighbor’s escaped dog. Police Supt. Graham Kent says the pitbull cross entered the home where Ayen Chol was watching TV with other children on Wednesday evening and attacked. A 5-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman were also injured. Chol died at the scene. Chol’s cousin Daniel Atem says the injured woman was outside the house when the dog chased her inside. Atem says the dog then attacked the 5-year-old. As Chol’s mother intervened it turned on Chol, who was clinging to her mother’s leg. Kent says the dog will be destroyed and charges are being considered against its owner. Chol was a Sudanese refugee.

Anderson Cooper LOSES It, Collapses Into Huge Fit Of Giggles (VIDEO)

Anderson Cooper flat-out lost it on his Wednesday show, collapsing in a huge fit of giggles over some bathroom-related puns. Cooper was doing his nightly “Ridiculist” segment. Wednesday’s centered on French actor Gerard Depardieu, who has been accused of urinating on a plane (and not in the plane’s bathroom, either). Apparently, potty humor is Cooper’s kryptonite, because he could barely keep himself together throughout the segment. The script was littered with puns like “They saw an actual thespian actually thes-peeing.” At one point, Cooper warned his staff to stop laughing, since he was getting the giggles. But it was when Cooper said, “All I can say, they should thank their lucky stars it wasn’t Depar-two” (get it?) that he lost any semblance of control. He laughed and laughed and laughed for a very long time. So now we all know what it looks like when Anderson Cooper completely and utterly descends into laughing madness. “This has never actually happened to me,” he squeaked, still laughing. “You see this on Youtube and you don’t think it will actually happen to you.” WATCH:

A brief item by Michael Shear in Friday’s New York Times, “ Huntsman Makes Bid To Step Out From Crowd ,” faulted moderate Republican candidate Jon Huntsman for not sufficiently “standing apart from the pack” of conservative presidential candidates by calling for higher taxes – or in Shear’s words, “revenue increases.” Shear called it a “missed opportunity,” as if Huntsman should have argued the liberal line on raising taxes solely to stand out from the conservative crowd.

Corsair adds 90GB SSDs to Force 3 / GT lines

Been thinking Corsair’s Force SSD lineup was too small at 60GB, but too darn capacious at 120GB? Well Goldilocks, we’ve got good news, as the company’s unveiled two middling models that might be just right. We begin with the 90GB Force 3 , which wields 550MB/s reads and 500MB/s writes at a $159 price point. For an additional $40, you can bump speeds up by 5MB/s on both counts with the identically sized Force GT . Just like their smaller and larger brethren, the two additions tote SandForce SF-228x controllers as they haul bits over SATA 6Gbps. They’re supposedly available “immediately,” but, like AnandTech , we couldn’t find either in stock. If middle of the road is your thing, then Godspeed, but we’ll stick with the big one .
