Somebody better tell incoming MSNBC host Chris Hayes the network giving him his own show later this month doesn't cotton to commentators disrespecting President Obama. On Thursday's “The Last Word,” Hayes told host Lawrence O'Donnell the current White House resident can't run his reelection campaign like Franklin Delano Roosevelt did in 1936 because FDR actually had a strong economic record to boast about (video follows with transcript and commentary): LAWRENCE O'DONNELL: And with “Time” magazine reporting today that the White House is eyeing a campaign like Reagan’s in 1984 or FDR’s in 1936, Republican world is already working on its rebuttal. “Weekly Standard” founder Bill Kristol blogged today in reaction to the “Time” magazine reporting, “When Barack Obama took over, unemployment stood at 7.8 percent. It’s now 9.1 percent, and GDP growth under Obama has so far been running at about 1 percent a year. The bottom line, Obama’s economic record is unlikely to look anything like that of Roosevelt’s or Reagan’s. But if the analogy provided a lift for the Obama team, that’s great. They undoubtedly need a little cheering up. The rest of us can look forward to being cheered up in November 2012 by the change in the Oval Office we’ve been waiting for.” Joining me now is Chris Hayes, MSNBC political analyst and editor at large for “The Nation.” His new weekend show premieres here on MSNBC later this fall. Thanks for joining me tonight, Chris. CHRIS HAYES, MSNBC POLITICAL ANALYST: Thank you, Lawrence. Great to be here. O'DONNNELL: Chris, I now have a new favorite FDR tape, which we have already played once in the show. HAYES: I love it. O’DONNELL: I love it so much. I really want to see it again. This is FDR — a warning, warning against electing Republicans, and doing it with a kind of charm, with this smile, with this attitude, that I hadn’t seen before in the limited amount of FDR speaking stuff that I’ve seen. Let’s just watch it and glory in it once again.

The company’s Pentouch comes with a plasma TV in tow, and lets you do super-slick stuff to your productivity suite — you can mark up Word docs, handwrite URLs in the browser, highlight elements in your PowerPoint presentations, or even flick one of those little red balls of fluff in Angry Birds . $2,199 will net you a 3D-enabled 60-inch LG PZ850 with Pentouch TV — a non-3D model is available for $1,699, and there’s a 50-inch version as well, priced at a mere $1,099. You’ll need to collect quite a few ingredients before you can get cookin’ here, including the TV, the pair of included pens, and a computer to pump content to your TV. If you’re planning to use the display with kids, a printer might be a good idea as well, so your little ones will have a platform to preserve all those on-screen sketched masterpieces (this thing puts coloring books to shame). Everything seemed to work as described (note: this isn’t a touchscreen, so you’ll need to use the pen), though the software did hiccup once while attempting to hand-write the Engadget URL. We see this being more of a hit for enterprise use, since there isn’t really any need to mark up photos or tap the screen to launch apps in your living room. Still thinking about taking the plunge? Jump past the break for a video walkthrough (yes, and yet another clip of Angry Birds ). In addition to releasing the video above (and another video, see below), the organization released it’s “America Wants To Work Action Plan.” The plan (which can be read in detail here ) includes six planks: 1. Rebuild America’s schools and transportation and energy systems: The plan argues that reinvesting in this critical, but crumbling, infrastructure will create millions of new jobs. 2. Revive U.S. manufacturing and stop exporting good jobs overseas: A number of policy proposals are included in this section, including strong opposition to free trade deals. 3. Put people to work doing work that needs to be done: This one is largely a repeat of No. 1 above, but also includes other policy options proposed by progressive members of Congress. 4. Help federal, state, and local governments avoid more layoffs and cutbacks of public services: This is an important focus — the bipartisan assault on government workers at all levels is a big problem with the current failure in boosting the job market. 5. Help fill the massive shortfall of consumer demand by extending unemployment benefits and keeping homeowners in their homes: These moves are so obvious, it’s a crime that they haven’t been done yet. 6. Reform Wall Street so that it helps Main Street create jobs: Wall Street used to help Main Street, but they’ve moved away from that. Maybe we should do something about that. The organization also launched a “Who Do You Heart” campaign for Twitter and Facebook, asking everyone to let everyone know what group(s) of workers they are thankful for this Labor Day. Anyone can post to Facebook or Twitter via a web interface for the campaign.
