Then you might want to take a gander at NEC’s latest duo, which includes the thin-and-light VersaPro UltraLite VB laptop, and the Mate MG all-in-one desktop (pictured after the break). Both of those are fairly mid-range when it comes to specs, with the laptop (a 12-incher) boasting either a Celeron, Core i3 or Core i5 processor and a range of basic configuration options, while the 19-inch desktop packs your choice of a Celeron or Core i5 processor and a somewhat unique power saving mode that uses a motion sensor to shut of the display when you leave the room. While they may not exactly be high-end, it doesn’t look like these will come cheap — look for the base model of the laptop to run

She was confident and well prepared and fluent and probing. At one point she asked a question of one of the lawyers that frankly seemed to stump them a little bit. A quiet kind of came over the courtroom as he gathered his thoughts. And you could almost sense or imagine some of the other justices and veteran court watchers kind of looking down the bench at Justice Kagan like a major league scout might say, “you know, that kid’s got some real pop on her fastball.” From the Monday, October 4 ABC World News: DIANE SAWYER: And on this first Monday in October, the Supreme Court opened its new term today — making history for America’s mothers, sisters and daughters. Terry Moran covers the court for us and tell us about this new day on the high court. Terry, good evening. TERRY MORAN: Good evening, Diane. It was a historic day. For the first time, three women took their seats on the high court, Justice Elena Kagan joining Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg up there. But Diane, the most remarkable thing in that courtroom today, on this historic day, was how unremarkable it was. The court really went about business as usual, a bankruptcy case, a sentencing case. No mention made of the history being made. But maybe Justice Ruth Ginsburg summed it up best in an interview she gave when she said: “When the schoolchildren file in and out of the court, they look up and they see three women, and that will seem natural and proper — just how it is.” And that is how it was. SAWYER: And how was Justice Kagan on her first day? MORAN: Well, the one word that leapt to my mind was “ready.” Within minutes of the start of these arguments in this bankruptcy case, she was jumping into the fray of oral arguments. She was confident and well prepared and fluent and probing. At one point she asked a question of one of the lawyers that frankly seemed to stump them a little bit. A quiet kind of came over the courtroom as he gathered his thoughts. And you could almost sense or imagine some of the other justices and veteran court watchers kind of looking down the bench at Justice Kagan like a major league scout might say, “you know, that kid’s got some real pop on her fastball.” SAWYER: So, no first day nerves for her. Thank you Terry Moran. Big day at the court.

The makers of the ill-fated 3DO are returning to the gaming world with a portable system dubbed “The Jungle.” The clamshell device will allegedly sport a super high-resolution display, features a full QWERTY keyboard along with what looks like a touch sensitive d-pad and button arrangement, and may run atop a custom Linux build. The Jungle will also apparently sport a mini HDMI port, a micro USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. To our eyes, the system looks a little on the clunky side, with a definite air of something out of Nokia’s N-Gage line — not a good thing for a 2010 device. Alongside the system itself, Panasonic will launch a Battlestar Galactica title for the device, and a web show called Online Underground . We’re digging up more details right now, but the company (actually an offshoot of Panasonic called Panasonic Cloud Entertainment) has already set up shop with a site and a few teaser videos. Check out the mysterious new handheld in another pic and some videos after the break (including a look at the Battlestar Galactica title), and stay tuned as we unearth the full story on the Jungle. (h/t Scott Baker, theblaze.com ) “[I] think that if I were a mother of a suffering child, I would be the first to want I mean a deeply suffering child I would be the first one to put a pillow over its face, as I would with any suffering thing and I think the difference is that my feeling of horror, suffering is many greater than my feeling of getting rid of a couple of cells because suffering can go on for years,” Ironside said. That startled the host Susanna Reid, who called it “horrible.” “I’m sorry. I was just about to introduce the next guest, but that is a pretty horrifying thing to say, that you would put a pillow over a –” Reid replied. But then following that, this exchange occurred: IRONSIDE: Of course I would, if it was a child I really loved who was any agony. I think any good mother would. REID: That’s going cause shock amongst some people. IRONSIDE: I don’t know any mother who wouldn’t say if this was there was nothing else that could be done and it was OTHER GUEST: That’s just not true. That’s just REID: Do you think mothers would agree with you? IRONSIDE: I think a lot would. Maybe not any, but a lot. The left is often eager to cry foul when some on the right even mention the words “death panels.” But with talk like this and by other eco-extremist, like Paul Watson, founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, who once said the world population should drop from nearly 7 billion as it stands now to under a billion , is it any wonder people question the motivations of some on the left?

These are some of the signs that were featured during reporter Tahman Bradley’s segment: “”Peace, justice, equality, hope, change,” “Fair trade, not free trade,” “Educate every child,” “Full and fair employment” and “Silence GOP lies.” However, signs with the Communist Party USA logo, posters reading “Capitalism is failing, socialism is the alternative” and “Build a socialist alternative” were not. [Pictures can be found here . Video, here .] Instead, Bradley repeated Democratic talking points: ” Several speakers and people in the crowd noted the diversity at the rally. Their insinuation, the Tea Party movement has attracted only a narrow slice of Americans .” Individuals with books such as the Communist Manifesto and The Jewish Question were also avoided. Interestingly, on Saturday, GMA’s Deborah Roberts actually asked Ben Jealous of the NAACP about communist infiltration of the rally: “Now, Glenn Beck has said to some of his viewers and listeners on the radio, that among your organizers are Communist Party members and the New York City Democratic Socialists of America. What do you say to that?” Roberts also had no follow up to Jealous’ odd answer: “This is a big tent…You’ll see Jews, Christians and Muslims. You’ll see black, brown, Asians. You’ll see everybody here from both parties who believe that tax cuts for the richest one percent at this time is crazy.” People from both parties attended the rally? Were they socialist Republicans? Considering how eager members of the media were to tout extremist signs at Tea Party rallies, Good Morning America should at least have shown a few of the socialist and communist signs, especially since Roberts raised the subject on Saturday. More on Tahman Bradley (see file photo at right): He interned for the left-wing People for the American Way . Reporting on the Glenn Beck rally for the August 29 GMA, he complained that the “crowd was almost all white, giving critics an open door.” A transcript of Sunday’s segment, which aired at 8:10am EDT, follows: DEBORAH ROBERTS: Liberals rally. Tens of thousands of people gather at the Lincoln Memorial to make their voices heard. But, will it be enough to energize voters and help the Democrats retain control of Congress? RON CLAIBORNE: And with election day less than a month away and Democrats struggling now to hold power on Capitol Hill, the left is trying to fire up its base, tens of thousands of people turned out for the One Nation Working Together rally in Washington, D.C. yesterday. Tahman Bradley has the story. PROTESTERS: USA! USA! TAHMAN BRADLEY: In a campaign that seems dominated by the Tea Party liberals put on their own strong show of support at the Lincoln Memorial. Their message, they too plan to show up on Election D ay. ED SCHULTZ: One nation. We are together. BRADLEY: The One Nation rally came almost one month after Glenn Beck energized conservatives at the same location. GLENN BECK: For too long this country has wandered in darkness. BRADLEY: This time hundreds of progressive groups, organizations from labor unions to the NAACP let their voice be heard. AL SHARPTON: They say that we’re apathetic. They say we’re not energized. We got to go home and we’ve got to hit the pavement. BRADLEY: Several speakers and people in the crowd noted the diversity at the rally. Their insinuation, the tea party movement has attracted only a narrow slice of Americans. GERALD HUDSON (Service Employees International Union): I think the Tea Party does not represent America. I think this is America. Asians, African-Americans, Latinos, whites, we’re all coming here saying, give us the politics that matter. JESSE JACKSON: Don’t you give up now. BRADLEY: The issues they say matter, jobs, education and social justice. issues that help Democrats win big in 2008, issues that liberals hope can once again motivate progressives to stem what polls show could be a large Republican tide. For Good Morning America, Tahman Bradley, ABC News, Washington. Signs seen in the segment: “Peace, Justice, Equality, Hope, Change,” “Fair Trade, Not Free Trade,” “Educate Every Child,” “Full and Fair Employment,” “Silence GOP Lies.”

So, what is it exactly? With a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 CPU, 1GB of RAM and 16/32/64GB SSD options, it sounds like your run-of-the-mill Win 7 tablet, though it does have a capacitive touchscreen and accelerometer — facts that make it superior to the Nav 9 we just reviewed. It’ll also ship with Windows 7 Home Premium, but interestingly there are Android 1.6 drivers on the company’s site as well as a dual-boot manual. That, along with a dedicated Ctrl+Alt+Del button, certainly makes it a bit different than the others. No word on international pricing just yet, but those details ought to be flowing from the Land Down Under soon. We’re not sure if it was financial reasons or a simple desire to get creative that drove Greg “Grease” Lehman of St. Paul, Minnesota to built his own, but build it he did, and out of wood. Using plans for a kit called the Roswell Quadrocopter, Greg hewed this from ash, oak, walnut, and paduak via CNC and a Sherline Mini mill. Thanks to its MikroKopter electronics the thing can hover and automatically fly to coordinates via GPS, or you can switch to a first-person view and do it your way. Most importantly you can build it your way using the instructions at the source link, and then enter it into your own local state fair. Greg entered his into the Minnesota State Fair’s “airplane flying model, scratch built” class and came in second. Yes, second. Sadly the Fair’s results sheet doesn’t describe what came in first, but it damn well better have had lasers and some degree of sentience to have beaten this.
