I saw this today and thought of any number of Democrat politicians.

David Gregory on Sunday asked what he must have thought was a loaded question concerning alleged racism in the Tea Party. Likely much to his surprise, both his Republican and Democrat guests on “Meet the Press” said they hadn't seen any evidence of that (video follows with transcript and commentary): read more

Puma Phone review

So it’s true, we’re living in an age where people would shamelessly line up for certain electronics and luxurious fashion items. Why? Just because they can. As such, some swanky outlets — namely Christian Dior , Prada , Giorgio Armani , Dolce Gabbana , and Versace — have attempted to exploit our gadget lust by offering self-branded phones at extortionate prices. In the eyes of every-day consumers, there’s really not much appeal in these soulless devices except for the logo and some extra bling, but apparently these two factors alone are enough to make some aficionados drool a river. On the other hand, Puma — a less luxurious but naturally more accessible fashion brand — has decided to do more than just slapping an OS skin onto its aptly-named Puma Phone . Priced at a comparably affordable

Syrian, Saudi leaders to discuss Lebanon, Iraq

RIYADH (Reuters) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad arrived in Saudi Arabia on Sunday for talks with King Abdullah expected to focus on tension in Lebanon over a U.N.-backed tribunal and the political void in Iraq. The Saudi state news agency SPA gave no details about the talks after Assad began his second trip to the world’s top oil exporting country this year, the latest sign of a thaw in bilateral relations. The meeting comes a few days after a state visit to Lebanon by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, whose disputed atomic energy programme Riyadh fears…

American Thinker asks all you libs out there how you would have reacted if George W. Bush had done the things Obama has done: If George W. Bush had doubled the national debt in one year, would you have approved? If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within ten years, would you have concurred? If George W. Bush had criticized a state law that he admitted he never even read, would you think he was just an ignorant hothead? If George W. Bush joined the country of Mexico and sued a state in the United States to force that state to continue to allow illegal immigration, would you question his patriotism and wonder whose side he was on? If George W. Bush had put 87,000 workers out of work by arbitrarily placing a moratorium on offshore oil drilling merely because one company had an accident, would you have thought this was disproportionate and harmful to American workers? If George W. Bush had forced a change in your health care coverage even though the majority of people did not seek or approve of these changes, would you begin to worry about an abuse of power by the executive branch of the government? If George W. Bush continually bashed the United States and seemed to side with known dictators, would you feel comfortable?… If George W. Bush had stated that there were 57 states in the United States, would you have said that he is an embarrassment?… If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest, with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans during Katrina, would you wonder if this lack of assistance had racial overtones? Clearly you would have been incensed by the gross incompetence — wouldn’t you?… If George W. Bush had ignored outright voting rights violations and did not recommend that the Department of Justice render justice, would you begin to wonder if the man was the president of all the people or just some of the people? There are a lot more. Read them here .

Pakistanis vote in Karachi election after violence

KARACHI (Reuters) – Counting was under way in a by-election in Pakistan's commercial hub Karachi on Sunday, after shooting attacks killed at least 22 people in the city, where ethnic and political violence has raised fears of instability. Pre-election bloodshed on Saturday night killed at least 22 people, police said. In August, a lawmaker of Karachi's dominant Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was killed by gunmen, sparking violence which killed 100 people in a week….

Motorola asks court to invalidate Apple patents, preempt another lawsuit

The smartphone intellectual property wars are seriously heating up, as Motorola sided with HTC this week in an effort to cover its own rear. Remember those twenty patents Apple aimed at the Taiwanese OEM? Motorola says they’re no good, and is trying to get them thrown out of court — an important tactic, because if the patents do hold water and are successfully used against HTC, Apple might turn around and sue Motorola with them too. That’s because there’s more at stake here than OEM phones, but Android as a whole , and as such other manufacturers that implement Android might potentially be targets as well. Oh, and don’t think this is Motorola’s first salvo in the arena, either — it’s also suing Apple outright to get the point across, and is similarly being sued by Microsoft for smartphone patents of its own. We’re just two guns shy of a Mexican standoff, folks. Motorola asks court to invalidate Apple patents, preempt another lawsuit originally appeared on Engadget on Sun, 17 Oct 2010 10:10:00 EDT.
