The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) announced plans today for an emergency operation to fight hunger in Yemen. Over 7 million people in Yemen lack access to basic foods and the country has an alarmingly high rate of malnutrition. The emergency plan will consist of rations for impoverished families suffering from high food prices, foods such as plumpy’nut to stop malnutrition in small children. Food for Work projects are also planned in order to build capacity in areas such as agriculture.
