Tsunami Kills at Least 282 in Indonesia
On Wednesday, two days after an earthquake-triggered tsunami hit the shores of Indonesia’s Mentawai Islands, local officials reported problems with an alert system that should have warned islanders of the incoming tidal wave. Meanwhile, the death toll has reached at least 282, according to the BBC, and elsewhere in Indonesia, a rumbling volcano is creating another kind of trouble.
