The New York City Underwear Run

It was another record run for the New York City Jamaican Underwear Race. People actually had the opportunity to legally drop their drawers and run through Central Park in the famous pre-Nautica New York City Triathlon ritual. More than 500 runners (still the world record) dressed — or undressed, as the case might be — in costumes competing for a trip for two to Jamaica. It was like a United Nations of nakedness at the event…some people had put some thought in their costumes, others seemed to be caught with their proverbial “pants down.” I was not really sure what some folks were thinking as they peeled off seemingly coordinated outfits to reveal all the like of compression garments: holding some things in place, pushing others out of place. The funniest thing was that the park, crowded with families, exercises and more, never even seemed to bat an eye as hundreds of barely clad runners thundered by. Guess it was just a typical New York moment. I’m not sure who won but I definitely know what was lost! And all racers “won” a free pair of underwear when they finished. Thank goodness. PHOTOS:
