As the civilian death toll of the Syrian protests surpassed the 2,000 mark, the Obama administration finally decided to tell Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to step down according to unnamed U.S. officials, who indicated the U.S. planned on delivering its tough message this coming Thursday.
