Petra Kvitova fought her way to an impressive two set win against the 2004 Wimbledon champion, Maria Sharapova. The 21-year-old Czech overpowered the 3-time grandslam champion Sharapova, despite the fact that the Russian hadn’t given up a set until today. This is Kvitova’s first grand slam win. Kvitova’s 6-3, 6-4 victory stunned many, as she managed to consistently break Sharapova, throwing the match off-balance. The left-handed Czech was able to consistently push Sharapova into corners forcing her to stretch and make weak returns. The shocking upset was achieved in under an hour and a half.
