enlarge Apparently living in DC all those years works against you when trying to prove your Chicago residency to run for Mayor. Who knew? So Rahm Emanuel, who left the position of Chief of Staff of the Obama White House to realize his personal dream of Mayor of Chi-Town, is off the ballot . A state appeals court ruled on Monday that Rahm Emanuel, President Barack Obama’s former chief of staff, cannot run for mayor of Chicago in February because he was not a resident of the city for a full year before the election. The ruling overturned decisions by a lower court and a Chicago elections board that had allowed Emanuel on the February 22 ballot. A Chicago Tribune poll published last week showed Emanuel leading the race by a comfortable margin. Emanuel’s attorney has promised to file an appeal either today or tomorrow. Guess that those more than $10 million in donations will come in handy for his legal fees.
