Mubarak leaves Cairo as Egyptian protesters march on federal buildings
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is reportedly headed to his home on the Red Sea. Demonstrators coalesce around the state TV and radio building and a few hundred gather outside the presidential palace in Heliopolis. The army vows to uphold government promises of reform. Anti-government protesters demonstrate in front of Egypt’s national television headquarters in Cairo. Furious demonstrators protested throughout Egypt a day after President Hosni Mubarak announced that he would remain in office through the September elections.
