From Melville House: Melville House’s new HybridBooks project allows readers of print books to download additional materials, called “Illuminations,” via a QR code contained within the book. These materials include photos, paintings, essays, poems and primary source materials that enhance the book-reading experience. The first HybridBooks are five novellas—written by Joseph Conrad, Giacomo Casanova, Anton Chekhov, Heinrich von Kleist and Alexander Kuprin—all with the same title: “The Duel.” The following slideshow and text is taken from “Illumination” materials contained within “The Duel” by Giacomo Casanova.
