Julie Taymor talks ailing ‘Spider-Man’ musical Julie Taymor, director and co-writer of the musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” recently addressed the recent problems that have plagued the production, the most expensive in Broadway history. “Anyone who creates knows – when it’s not quite there,” the New York Times quoted Taymor as telling about 1,000 people at the TED2011 conference in New York. “Where it hasn’t quite become the phoenix or the burnt char.
