With news that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas toured Latin American again in a worldwide effort to gain recognition for Palestinian statehood, one must speculate if a new Pan-American and Palestinian Era is taking shape. After visiting Columbia, President Abbas announced a new diplomatic agreement with El Salvador, one of the United States’ and Israel’s closest allies. Last year, President Abbas was warmly received in Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, and Bolivia, four Latin American nations that recognized Palestinian statehood years ago.
