As expected, the Justice Department asked an appeals court Wednesday to put a hold on U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips’ recent injunction to stop the military from enforcing its “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. Why would the government do this? According to the DoJ, the ruling was too quick and all-encompassing, and it bypassed crucial judicial steps that shouldn’t be skipped. This one could go all the way to the Supreme Court.

His wife, Virginia, just left an unwelcome voicemail for Anita Hill, soliciting an apology 19 years after Hill accused then-nominee Thomas of behaving very badly. Professor Hill, who teaches at Brandeis, reported the call to campus security and let ABC News know she had no intention of apologizing.
