On Monday's “Morning Joe,” co-host Joe Scarborough cast Fox News as an unabashedly conservative network while trumpeting his own show as a neutral voice of sanity in a polarized news environment. “In this world of Balkanized cable news outlets…it is kind of nice being Switzerland,” he gloated, asserting the neutrality of his “Morning Joe” program. “This show is a safe house where people can come and talk whether they are on the right or the left,” Scarborough described his MSNBC morning show. “But there aren't many places left like that outside these three hours.” “Morning Joe” by-and-large leaves guests the freedom to express their own opinion. But Scarborough's assumption leaves out the fact that an overwhelming number of liberal guests and analysts appear on the show. Jon Meacham of Newsweek, former MSNBC host Donny Deutsch, and Tina Brown of The Daily Beast are three of many liberals who appear regularly on “Morning Joe.” In contrast, a far-right conservative appearing on “Morning Joe” is rare. MSNBC analyst Pat Buchanan is one of the few conservative voices appearing regularly on the show. RedState's Erik Erickson appears infrequently and contributors from publications like National Review appear rarely if ever.

Photo: AFP In places throughout the Amazon , some stretches of the region’s most important rivers and tributaries have dried up almost entirely, reducing the normally flowing waterways to a vast plain of broken clay and mud. For some people who live and work in this part of the world , life has come to a screeching halt amid the worst drought in recent memory. Verizon’s Galaxy Tab won’t have Skype, NFL Mobile, or V Cast video apps at launch

Looks like that plan to bring NFL content Verizon tablets is on hold, at least for now — we just got Big Red’s employee training materials for the Samsung Galaxy Tab , and they explicitly say that Skype Mobile, NFL Mobile, and V Cast Video won’t be available on the seven-inch tablet at launch. That’s disappointing for a variety of reasons — particularly the loss of Skype, which would have made up for the lack of voice calling ability — but we’re hoping the holdup is mostly due to app-compatibility issues and not corporate politics. We’ll find out, we suppose. Hit the gallery for the rest of the training docs. If you do, it’s because this 16 year-old kid helped build the world’s only high school-made super hybrid sports car. As a participant in an after-school workshop in Philadelphia run by Simon Hauger, he and his teammates dreamed up and built a sporty hybrid that goes from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds, yet gets 70 mpg on the highway and 100 mpg in the city. They entered the car in the Automotive X-Prize, and beat out numerous top competitors — MIT and multimillion dolla… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Home Sales Bumped Up in September

At long last, a little good news from the real estate market: The National Association of Realtors reported a 10% rise in existing home sales over the month of September, but buyers are still skittish about foreclosures and the country’s job problems figure into the log-term prognosis as well.

Adobe confirms Flash Player 10.1 is coming to BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7 and more

We’ve already known that Adobe would be bringing Flash Player 10.1 to Windows Phone 7 , but the company has just now made that fully official at its currently-happening MAX conference (alongside its Air 2.5 announcement ), and it’s also confirmed exactly which other mobile platforms the plug-in will be headed to. That includes WebOS 2.0, which we’ve already seen first hand , along with BlackBerry OS, Symbian, MeeGo and, last but not least, the LiMo platform — those will all of course join Android 2.2, which already supports the plug-in. Unfortunately, there’s still no timeline for a release on each platform, with Adobe only saying that that Flash 10.1 is “expected” to hit each mobile OS. Head on past the break for the relevant snippet from Adobe’s press release.
