Bear Chases Bison Down Road in Yellowstone (Video)

Image: Screenshot via CNN It’s been a long week, what with the seemingly never-ending 2010 elections bearing seriously bad news for green . But it’s Friday, which means I get a brief reprieve from thinking about all that unpleasant stuff. Instead, I shall devote my attention to the finer things in life, like this: Bears chasing down bison in Yellowstone, and the bold men who photograph them! Video is after the jump:… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Not in the USA but in Britain : The Independent reports that former British immigration minister Phil Woolas “lost his seat as an MP today after an election court ruled that he knowingly made false statements about an opponent in May’s general election.” Bloomberg notes Woolas was guilty of “an illegal practice” by making statements “he had no reasonable grounds for believing were true and did not believe were true.” “It is the first time in 99 years that an election has been overturned as a result of a candidate making false statements. Woolas told reporters he is applying for a judicial review of the decision.” Can you imagine if they enforced a law like that in the US? There wouldn’t be an election winner who would survive the challenge.

T-Mobile myTouch 4G review

Coming hot on the heels of the ultra-impressive G2 , T-Mobile has returned to its myTouch series with the myTouch 4G. While the G2 is the natural enthusiast flagship, the 4G represents a flagship in its own right of a skinned, curated Android experience. If the G2 is the Droid 2 killer, T-Mobile probably sees the myTouch as the iPhone 4 killer (even the name has a similarity to the popular “iTouch” misnomer, and the 4G / 4 mirrors T-Mobile’s matchy matchy naming sense with the myTouch 3G / iPhone 3G… we’re just saying, is all). So, what does that mean in practice? Some impressive functionality inside and out, including a front facing camera for video calls, HSPA+ network speeds, and WiFi Calling. How does it all play out in the real world? Let’s find out. With time served he only has about a year to go : A judge sentenced a white former transit officer to two years in prison Friday in the shooting death of an unarmed black man on a California train platform, angering friends and family members of the victim who wanted a much harsher punishment. The case has provoked racial unrest at every turn, and police in Oakland were on alert for more problems following a sentence that many thought was too light. Defendant Johannes Mehserle had faced a possible 14-year maximum term after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors sought prison time for Mehserle, whose lawyers argued for probation. Perry said Mehserle has served nearly 150 days in custody and with credit for time served, he has 293 days applied to his sentence, nearly cutting it in half. Despite the attempts by the race activists to claim this was premeditated murder, it was clearly an accidental shooting and the sentence is probably appropriate. You might want to stay out of Oakland this weekend.

This is how former presidents should act: Following the good old “Golden Rule,” former President George W. Bush refused to bash President Obama on the “Oprah” show. In a taped interview that will air on Nov. 9, the former president said he wants to treat his successor “the way I’d like to have been treated.” “I don’t think it’s good for a former President to be out there opining on every darned issue,” he told Winfrey. “He’s got a plenty tough job. Trust me. And there’s gonna be plenty of critics and he doesn’t need me criticizing him. And I don’t think it’s good for the presidency. Other people have a different point of view.” In the interview, the former president—who is currently promoting his new memoir “Decision Points” — says he’s “through with politics.” And he doesn’t want to predict what might happen in 2012, either. When asked to weigh in on the possibility of Sarah Palin’s 2012 presidential bid, Bush deflected the question, saying “I am not a political pundit…I’m really not.” You just know that Oprah was hoping Bush would be petty and mean towards Obama, but he didn’t take the bait. And you know she was desperately hoping for some slam at Sarah Palin. Too bad Jimmuh Carter never learned to act this way after he left office.

Obama flies to India, looking to boost US economy

MUMBAI: President Barack Obama hasn’t been able to drive down unemployment in America, so he’s coming to India in search of US jobs. Four days after his party suffered heavy, economy-influenced losses in Congress, the president will arrive Saturday in Mumbai, India’s booming financial center, where he will meet with local business leaders and with American executives who have traveled to India in search of billions of dollars in trade deals. The White House hopes to announce agreements on aircraft and other exports, and generally broadcast that America is open for business with burgeoning India and its 1.2 billion residents. The administration says…

Editor's Note: MRC President Brent Bozell issued the following statement in reaction to news that MSNBC had suspended Countdown host Keith Olbermann “indefinitely” for donating to three Democratic candidates in violation of NBC's policy. In October, Olbermann had blasted political donations from Fox News owner News Corp, slamming Fox as “a media outlet that has now put its money where everybody has known its mouth has always been.” Keith Olbermann is officially the Worst Hypocrite in the World. He rails about a ‘national cable news outlet’ that ‘starts to donate to partisan groups of one party,’ then does exactly that. But it begs a bigger questions: why did it take NBC so long? This man has been using his perch as a newsman at MSNBC to promote a radical left-wing and hate-filled agenda for years. And they fire him over three contributions? NBC needs to review its own policies.” (Video below page break) read more
