Logitech Revue with Google TV review

The Logitech Revue is in many ways the flagship Google TV launch device. While Sony integrated Google’s new media platform into its line of Internet TVs and the Internet TV Blu-ray player , the Revue is a dedicated Google TV device, albeit with a few additional features like optional an optional video calling camera. It’s also the cheapest, at $299, and possibly the easiest to add into an existing A/V system, since it has Logitech’s Harmony universal remote technology built-in. We’ve already covered Google TV as a platform , so let’s take a closer look at the Revue to see if Logitech’s riff on the connected TV is worthy of its lead-dog status. Read on for the full… Revue review! Honda’s Next Hybrid Drivetrain May Have Lithium-Ion Batteries, Ditch IMA

Photo: Flickr , CC The key word in the title above is “may”. It’s not a done deal yet, but to me it makes so much sense that I’d be surprised if Honda didn’t go that route, especially after its CEO showed enthusiasm for electric cars . This info comes from Honda’s head of R&D…. Read the full story on TreeHugger

Shocker! Laptops placed on laps will overheat you where you don’t want to be overheated

Scrotal hyperthermia — even its name sounds like a terrible, horrible thing. Yes, gadget enthusiasts, we’re talking about the vastly underrated problem that is the overheating of a techie gentleman’s reproductive parts. A study recently published in the Fertility and Sterility journal confirms what we’ve long known — that heat escaping laptops sat on laps can and will raise the temperature in your external offspring storage units — but adds a bit of handy additional info as well. Firstly, it turns out that keeping one’s legs together to balance the laptop is mostly to blame, as it doesn’t provide enough airflow to let heat escape, while lap pads have been found to be entirely ineffective in protecting testicles from rising in temperature. Another note of import is that the men in this study failed to notice when their scrotal thermometers rose above what’s considered safe, so we’d just advise doing your mobile blogging Engadget style: from a bar, a coffee table , the trunk of a car, or even a humble desk. iOS 4.2 bringing speed improvements to iPhone 3G?

The recent iOS updates have mostly been welcome improvements for iPhone 4 and 3GS users, but it’s been a decidedly different story for folks sticking to their venerable iPhone 3G . Not only have they been left out of some of the fun , but they were dealt a serious performance hit with iOS 4.0 that was only somewhat corrected by IOS 4.1. Could iOS 4.2 finally bring things back up to speed? According to the folks at TiPb , it just might — they’ve now tested the iOS 4.2 gold master on an iPhone 3G and found that performance was noticeably improved across the board. Head on past the break to check out their results for yourself, and keep your fingers crossed that you’ll actually see a similar improvement when the official update finally hits your 3G.
