Embarrassing : Burger King corporate stepped in and fired two of its employees after a drive through receipt with some choice words made it on national television. Sacramento resident Francisco Perez told KCRA TV after ordering food at the Sacramento restaurant, he noticed his receipt read “f— you” in the area that would normally say “thank you.” The four-letter profanity was spelled out not once, but twice. One day after that story aired, a Burger King manager and an employee have been let go according to a company statement released Wednesday. “Burger King Corp. (BKC) and the franchisee that owns and operates this restaurant deeply regret that this incident occurred,” Burger King’s Denise T. Wilson wrote. “The franchisee has taken immediate corrective action and both the manager and employee are being terminated. The franchisee will be reaching out to the guest directly.” You’d think “Thank You” would be hardcoded into their system so it couldn’t be changed.

‘Antimatter’ captured by CERN scientists in dramatic physics breakthrough

Antimatter has been captured by scientists for the first time in an astonishing physics breakthrough that echoes the hit Hollywood movie Angels & Demons. An antimatter reactor powers the starship Enterprise in the TV series Star Trek Photo: REX FEATURES Researchers at the European Nuclear Research Centre (CERN), in Geneva claimed that had trapped dozens of hydrogen “antimatter” atoms, a technical feat that significantly boosts research into one of the great puzzles of particle physics. But the 38 atoms of anti-hydrogen trapped by scientists for one sixth of a second would hardly pose a threat to the Vatican. Nor could they drive a starship, as depicted in Star Trek. But the particles is…

Pause for another moment of brilliance from Rachel Maddow. Sad that she even has to say it, but she still says it brilliantly. Bottom line? Reporting what people say is not news. Reporting what they DO is news. There’s a big, big difference. If only they’d listen.

AT&T: 80 percent of network now upgraded to HSPA+

AT&T promised that it would be expanding its HSPA+ rollout this year, and it’s now finally touting some actual results. Speaking at the Sencha Conference in San Francisco this week, AT&T CTO John Donovan confirmed that the carrier has upgraded a full 80 percent of its network to HSPA+, which promises to offer two and half times the performance of regular HSPA. Donovan also talked a bit out mobile data use in general, and revealed that data traffic growth has actually slowed over the past few months from a rate of 50 times to 30 times what it was three years ago. Donvon was quick to point out, however, that “If you look in absolute numbers, it’s still a tremendous growth rate,” and actually represents a three thousan d percent uptick in data traffic over the past three years. Nancy Pelosi was voted in as the new Minority leader 150-43, in a secret ballot during a private Wednesday meeting even after a move by Heath Shuler to become the new leader. I think his bid was an attempt to try and strengthen Blue Dogs and his own political life in the upcoming 2012 election. House Democrats elected Nancy Pelosi to remain as their leader Wednesday despite massive party losses in this month’s congressional elections that prompted some lawmakers to call for new leadership. Pelosi, the nation’s first female House speaker, will become minority leader when Republicans assume the majority in the new Congress in January. She defeated moderate Democratic Rep. Heath Shuler of North Carolina, 150-43, in secret balloting in a lengthy closed-door gathering of House Democrats in the Capitol
