Google today previewed its upcoming tablet-friendly Android 3.0 update at the Consumer Electronics Show, and it looks unlike any version of Android we’ve ever seen. The video shows off a slick new user interface that Google describes as a “truly virtual holographic interface” built specifically for large-screened devices. The DSC-W510 kicks things off on the low-end with a 4x optical zoom and 12 megapixel sensors for $100, while the DSC-W530, DSC-W560, and DSC-W570 each offer some modest upgrades in megapixels and / or zooms and other specs, and top out at a $180 list price. Joining those are the touchscreen-equipped DSC-T110 that will do 720p video for $230, and the DSC-H70 (also $230) that packs a 25mm wide angle lens with a 10x optical zoom. Continue reading …T-Mobile and LG have decided not to sit still in the shadow of Motorola and Verizon’s high-powered 4G Honeycomb tablet partnership and have just announced their intention to introduce the T-Mobile G-Slate. Few details are known at present other than those headline-grabbing 4G (or pseudo-4G ) capabilities and Android 3.0 operating system. Continue reading …No tablet is complete without some accessories, and Motorola’s just announced a bunch for its new Xoom tablet . Those include the Speaker HD dock that packs a pair of speakers for hands-free video chats and media viewing, the “Standard Dock” that doubles as stand while it charges the tablet, a new Bluetooth keyboard that’ll also work with your phone and, last but not least, a portfolio case that’s available in both leather and “durable” versions. No word on prices for any of them just yet, but we presume they’ll be released alongside the tablet itself when it rolls out sometime in the first quarter of the year. Continue reading …Motorola’s CLIQ 2 and its crazy honeycomb sliding keypad just stepped into the limelight at CES and surprise, surprise looks exactly like the pic we saw a couple weeks back. This set packs a 1GHz processor, 5MP shooter, WiFi calling, a hotspot for up to 5 devices, and a 3.7-inch FWVGA (854×480) display. The jury’s out on exactly how that keyboard is going to behave while pounding your digits against it in a messaging frenzy, but a hands-on will sort that real quick.
