Californians Ed Watson and Derence Kernik have been together for 40 years, but Ed has been been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and the couple is desperately hoping to marry while he can still recognize Derence. In a totally fucking related development, today the American Family Association denounced attempts to have the stay on Prop 8 lifted, using the headline, “Patience Is Not A Homosexual Virtue.” Subscribe… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Joe. Maddow: Fox News Governor John Kasich May Have Picked the Wrong Fight in Ohio

Click here to view this media As Rachel pointed out, former Fox News candidate and now Ohio Governor John Kasich may have picked the wrong fight in Ohio. He may not be getting as much attention nationwide for his union busting as Wisconsin’s Governor Walker, but he’s doing even more damage there and he’s going after the police and firefighters as well with his union busting legislation. Rachel and one of our resident Ohioans on teamcrooks pointed out today that when even the Cincinnati Enquirer is bashing you in op-eds, you’ve got some real problems. A shameful performance on Senate Bill 5 : It is shameful that Ohio Republicans pushed the SB5 collective bargaining bill through the Senate on Wednesday using the sort of tactics that congressional Democrats were justly criticized for using during the health-care reform debate. What’s doubly shameful is that this process is tainting an overhaul of public employment practices that is eminently worthwhile and necessary – in fact, long overdue – but should be done in a more reasoned, collaborative manner. The process should produce at least a credible level of buy-in. We call on Ohio House leaders to step back and see how they can improve the quality of the debate as they take up the measure. Go read the rest but this is from a paper that heartily endorsed Kasich before the election.

Libya clashes widen, unrest erupts in Tripoli

TRIPOLI – Forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi widened attacks on rebel-held areas in an escalation of Libya’s crisis on Friday and unrest spread to the capital when gunmen opened fire to break up dissident protests. Eastern-based rebels pressed home their push to the west with an attack on the oil town of Ras Lanuf, claiming to have taken its airport. The rebels earlier told Reuters they were open to talks only on Gaddafi’s exile or resignation following attacks on civilians that have provoked international condemnation, a raft of arms and economic sanctions and a war crimes probe. In developments likely to raise concern about dwindling food and medical supplies in rebel-held areas, reports from…

Conan O’Brien produces a more honest iPad 2 promotional video

Feeling a little underwhelmed by this week’s iPad 2 launch? This promotional video recently unearthed by Conan O’Brien goes some distance in explaining why this might be… and why you’re probably not alone. But just in case you did buy into the hype, don’t feel bad: it’s easy to get suckered by a smooth talker with “a non-specific ethnic accent.” See for yourself after the break. EasySign iPhone app halts the print / sign / email cycle, trees everywhere celebrate

All together now: “flippin’ finally!” For anyone in the business world who has been blocked from receiving information due to the inability to locate a printer, ink pen, scanner, publicly available PC, a working printer driver and a fifth of Jack, say hello to your savior. EasySign is a delightfully simple new iOS app (yeah, we’re already begging for an Android port) that solves a painful problem, and it should make signing documents on the go a whole heck of a lot easier for those who tote iPhones. The concept is simple: you download the document you’re supposed to sign right onto your iPhone, and then you use your finger to enter your John Hancock. It’ll stamp whatever date you want onto the form, and with a simple button press, it’s converted to a PDF and shot back to the sender. We’d probably recommend using the stock black ink, but it seems that a few color options are available for those who prefer to roll a bit more casually. Head on past the break for a demo, and then hit that iTunes link for a free trial. Once you send three documents, you’ll need to pony up $4.99 for another 120 docs. But hey, given that petrol looks like a steal compared to your average inkjet cartridge, you’ll probably still come out ahead.
