Tweet – Libyan rebels reported heavy fighting in the besieged city of Misrata on Tuesday and France said NATO must step up bombing to stop Muammar Qadhafis forces attacking civilians. “It is not acceptable that Misrata is still under fire and being bombarded by Qadhafis troops,” French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said in Luxembourg. NATO took over air operations from a coalition of the United States, Britain and France on March 31 and rebels have accused it of not doing enough, although they recently toned down criticism. Despite NATO raids, the government bombardment of Misrata, the last rebel stronghold in western Libya, has continued unabated with hundreds of civilians reported killed….

Sporadic gunfire rang out across Abidjan today after Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara called on all fighters to put down their arms now that the country’s longtime strongman has been captured following a months-long deadly power struggle. More than one million civilians fled their homes and untold numbers were killed in the more than four-month power struggle between the two rivals. The standoff threatened to re-ignite a civil war in the world’s largest cocoa producer, once divided in two by violence nearly a decade ago. Riley Keough, the 21-year-old daughter of Lisa Marie Presley (and, thus, granddaughter of King Elvis) has returned to the modeling game, striking a pose in double denim for Lee’s jean’s new campaign. Keough has already put in her share of time on the catwalk, making her debut at Dolce & Gabbana’s 2004 show (she was 14) and reportedly strutting for Victoria’s Secret two years later (feels illegal). She also became the face of Christian Dior in 2006.
