Apple axes iPod click wheel games in iTunes, is the ‘classic’ model next?

We’re all well aware that a new iPhone will see daylight next week . What’s still a bit unclear is whether or not Apple plans on discontinuing the ol’ faithful iPod classic . However, we may be getting a clue as to what fate the PMP may soon meet. The folks over at AppleInsider discovered that the link to iPod Click Wheel Games no longer appears on the App Store drop-down menu in iTunes. Since 2006, the folks in in Cupertino have been offering added entertainment for the popular mobile jukebox for $7.49 each, but only about 50 titles were available for purchase — it’s kind of hard to develop software when a third-party kit wasn’t publicly released. So if you’re planning on hanging onto your iPod classic for a little while, we hope you’re content to keep playing Vortex, Klondike or whatever else you’ve already downloaded. These kids are probably somewhat privileged to begin with, but I’m happy to see them take on the industry. From the New York Times: Two men who worked on the hit movie “Black Swan” have mounted an unusual challenge to the film industry’s widely accepted practice of unpaid internships by filing a lawsuit on Wednesday asserting that the production company had violated minimum wage and overtime laws by hiring dozens of such interns. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Manhattan, claims that Fox Searchlight Pictures, the producer of “Black Swan,” had the interns do menial work that should have been done by paid employees and did not provide them with the type of educational experience that labor rules require in order to exempt employers from paying interns. “Fox Searchlight’s unpaid interns are a crucial labor force on its productions, functioning as production assistants and bookkeepers and performing secretarial and janitorial work,” the lawsuit says. “In misclassifying many of its workers as unpaid interns, Fox Searchlight has denied them the benefits that the law affords to employees.” Workplace experts say the number of unpaid internships has grown in recent years, in the movie business and many other industries. Some young people complain that these internships give an unfair edge to the affluent and well connected . For whatever their motives may be, this is a good thing. When these entry-level, career-path creative jobs pay a decent wage, they will be an option for applicants of all backgrounds, not just the children of the rich and well-connected.

Comcast, NBCU Fund Gay-Left Dinner With Obama

Penny Starr at CNSNews.com reports President Obama will be speaking Saturday night at the annual fundraising gala of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay-left advocacy group. She added they’re pushing for grade schools to be “inclusive” about the LGBT gospel: “Curriculum must be LGBT inclusive starting in elementary school for the following reasons,” including “Students learn more effectively when they see themselves reflected in the curriculum” and “Pressure to conform to gender roles can limit social and academic development.” A cursory look at the financial backers of this left-wing banquet of political correctness would find several media giants. Google is funding the “after party.” Comcast – the owners of NBC Universal – are a “gold” sponsor, and NBC Universal itself is a “silver” sponsor. Comcast and NBC Universal were also financial supporters of the Equality Forum , an annual LGBT advocacy event in Philadelphia, as were NBC 10 Philadelphia and CBS Radio. Obama press secretary Jay Carney was pressed with the hopes of the gay leftists that Obama would further “evolve” on “gay marriage” in his remarks: BLOOMBERG NEWS: The president is expected to speak at the Human Rights Campaign dinner over the weekend, and the last time we checked in, his views on gay marriage were evolving. I wonder whether we’ll get an update on that evolution at the dinner or whether DADT will be essentially the only newsworthy topic of conversation. JAY CARNEY:
