And so it continues: The Afghan officer, who was a veteran military pilot, fired on the Nato Forces after an argument, which prompted a “gunfight”. The shooting occurred in an operations room of the Afghan Air Corps at Kabul airport. A Pentagon spokesman confirmed that the eight NATO service members and their civilian colleague were all americans. Five Afghan soldiers were wounded, with at least one Afghan soldier shot – in the wrist – but most of the soldiers suffered broken bones and cuts, officials said. It was the seventh time this year that members of the Afghan security forces, or insurgents impersonating them, have killed coalition soldiers or members of the Afghan security forces. The attack comes less than a month after nine people died during protests in Kandahar and and an attack on the UN office in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif , which resulted in the deaths of seven UN workers. The Taliban claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s attack. In a statement, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said the gunman, who was killed during the shooting, was impersonating an army officer and that others at the facility helped him gain access. At his press conference on Wednesday, President Obama scolded the media for focusing on his birth certificate instead of more important issues. He started the conference by calling out NBC’s Chuck Todd directly. “I can’t get the networks to break in on all kinds of other discussions,” he said. “I was just back there listening to Chuck—he was saying, it’s amazing that he’s not going to be talking about national security. I would not have the networks breaking in if I was talking about that, Chuck, and you know it.” He then said that part of the reason that he wanted to release the birth certificate was because he was seeing coverage of the issue dominate the media, rather than discussion of the federal budget or other issues. While the issue has certainly been heavily covered, the Pew Research Center pointed out that discussion of the birther issue made up for just 4 percent of the news coverage during the period Obama cited in his address. However, Donald Trump was the second most covered newsmaker last week, and his recent media appearances have been almost exclusively related to birther issues. “I’m speaking to the vast majority of the American people, as well as to the press,” Obama said. “We do not have time for this kind of silliness. As the PlayStation Network / Qriocity outage stretches into its second week, over on the PlayStation Blog rep Patrick Seybold has just posted an updated Q&A based on the inquiries of concerned users. Beyond the security of our personal information, the most important question is when service might be restored and he reiterates Sony expects to have “some services” up and running within a week from yesterday. When it comes to the most important personal information like credit card numbers, there are assurances that the credit card database was encrypted and there is no evidence anything was taken, but that’s a possibility that still cannot be ruled out completely. To keep things secure, Gamasutra reports game developers are getting new SDKs with updated security features as well. When the service comes back up, expect a mandatory system update that requires a new password before getting back to your Mortal Kombat or Portal 2 -related plans.
