While many of you continue your quest for an Eee Pad Transformer, some folks, predictably, have already figured out how to overclock it. Someone in the XDA forum posted a custom kernel allowing hackers to crank the tablet’s clock speed to 1.4GHz, the same peak reached by the ViewSonic G Tablet . Beware, though, that performance at that speed has proven unreliable, so the with the dev recommends a more modest 1.2GHz to avoid data loss, a meltdown, and “injury of assorted puppies.” Par for the course , really. The AFP reports that Spanish cyclist Xavier Tondo died Monday in a freak accident while at a ski resort in southern Spain. Tondo, 32, was reportedly crushed between his car and a garage door, according to a police source. The source said “it appears” that Tondo died instantly. The manager of his Movistar team, Eusebio Unzue, said another Spanish professional cyclist, Benat Intxausti of the Euskaltel team, was in the vehicle at the time.. The Associated Press reports that according to Cadena SER radio, Tondo and Intxausti were heading to the Sierra Nevada mountain range outside of Granada to train with Alejandro Valverde. Last month, Tondo won the Tour of Castilla y Leon, and last year he placed sixth overall in the Tour of Spain. BBC Sport reports that earlier this year, Tondo informed authorities about a doping ring after he was offered banned substances.

AMD has just rolled out two new additions to its line of Embedded G-Series APUs, combining Fusion -based processing with reduced power consumption. Both the T40E and T40R rock the same 64-bit x86 Bobcat CPU cores and DirectX 11-capable GPUs we’ve already seen in previous G-Series incarnations, but AMD says the pair can operate using thirty-nine percent less power than its cousins. The single core T40R boasts a thermal design power (TDP) rating of just 5.5 watts, while the dual core T40E offers a TDP of 6.4 watts. The two applications are designed for compact fanless systems, including kiosks and mobile industrial devices, though Axiomtek is apparently planning on incorporating the new APUs in a new Pico-ITX consumer PC, as well.
