Crossposted from Truth Ticker . A coordinated campaign of liberal callers infiltrating Limbaugh’s show, circumventing the screener, and peppering the host with a wide range of questions that Rush cannot possibly answer adequately (honestly, anyway), seems to be getting under his skin. Today, Limbaugh was tearing into Dick Durbin because the Senator gave a floor speech that suggested Bank of America account holders should close their accounts and bank with some other institution that would not be so quick to nickle and dime them. (BofA just announced that they’d begin charging debit card users a $5 monthly fee). The nut of Limbaugh’s argument was that a United States Senator has no business interfering in the private sector like that. It’s just not the role of elected officials, Rush says. So I called and pretended to be Kevin from Clifton Park, NY. I told Snerdley that Rush can’t have it both ways. If he’s going to condemn Durbin for interfering in private sector markets, then he should equally condemn Republicans for interfering with the market services Planned Parenthood provides. Snerdley liked it and put me on hold. While on hold, I started thinking of other times that Republicans attacked market actors. Like the Dixie Chicks. The New York Times… And then I remembered reading an old story about how Limbaugh came to be carried by the Armed Forces Radio network: Republican Congressman pressured the Pentagon’s brass until they caved. So I waited about an hour, and finally Rush got to my call. This is what I said, but you should really watch the video to get the full context of why this call is so revealing: Me: “Hey Rush, you’ve talked about how Durbin… It’s just not his place as a Senator to get involved. But I’ve heard Republicans get involved in telling women where they can get health care with Planned Parenthood, they said don’t buy Dixie Chicks records, they’ve railed against the New York Times and I know of at least one impotent, pill-popping propagandist on the radio that got his start on the Armed Forces talk radio at the behest of Republican interference. So please don’t tell us that it’s not the place of a politician to talk out…talk out… speak out about issues that are important to millions and millions of people.” Rush: “I don’t know what politician told people not to buy the Dixie Chicks records. What are you talking about? Planned Parenthood? You know… you… again… identify yourself and the way you think as another obstacle all the rest of us face for our freedom… you’re just a glittering jewel of colossal ignorance… you’re an arrogant snob… and arrogant, full-fledged snob and you don’t know 10% of what you think you know… because you’ve been ill-informed, misinformed by a faulty education system or whatever it is. But, people like you… you’re part of the pack we’re gonna hafta run over… you’re just part of the pack we’re gonna look at and smile in the rear-view mirror in 2012. Take care Kevin, have a great day.” The end of this video is the important bit. Rush NEVER loses his cool the way he did with the caller that immediately followed me. Part of his appeal is that he’s not like the “rest of them”. He’ll insult liberals, but you won’t see throbbing veins and spittle flying. He’s never out of control. At least not until today. And today, he took it out on a ditto-head. If you watch the video closely, you can see that he and his producer are messaging back and forth toward the end of my call. When Rush is informed that it’s me – again – the slow boil begins. And oon enough it boils over when the next caller repeatedly mentions Bo Snerdley – Limbaugh’s incompetent screener – that I had just duped… again. I’m still recruiting for more people to join our talk radio disruption crew. Right now we’re taking on Jabba the Rushbo, but once we’re through with him, we’ll turn to the others. These folks got the Fairness Doctrine repealed, but that doesn’t mean we can’t level the playing field. If you want to join us, email me at stark.m AT gmail DOT com.

For nearly five decades, Johnson and the art collector David Whitney lived in the 47-acre grounds in New Canaan, CT, sculpting the landscape and adding new buildings. In 2007, two years after both men had died, the site opened up to the public as a National Trust Historic Site. Skira Rizzoli has just published a new edition of “The Glass House” ($25), the definitive book about the estate. See below for images and stories from its remarkable grounds.

When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.” During a radio interview on the “Mark Levin Show” after the news broke, Palin was asked if she’s considering running for president as an independent candidate. In response to the question she said, “I would assume that a third party would just guarantee Obama’s reelection, and that’s the last thing the Republican party can afford. So the consideration for a third party is not there, no.” News of Palin’s decision comes after months of speculation swirling around Palin’s political ambitions. The former governor made headlines by embarking on a bus tour of the eastern United States in May. More recently, she captured attention with an appearance in Iowa that coincided with the Ames Straw Poll — a table-setter for next year’s Iowa caucuses. “My decision is based upon a review of what common sense conservatives and independents have accomplished, especially over the last year,” Palin explained. “I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office — from the nation’s governors to congressional seats and the presidency.” The former governor added, “Know that by working together we can bring this country back — and as I’ve always said, one doesn’t need a title to help do it.” On the “Mark Levin Show” she elaborated, “Not being a candidate really you’re unshackled and you’re allowed to be even more active.” The announcement from Palin comes just days after New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signaled that he will not pursue the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. Despite recent buzz on the possibility a contender could make a late entry into the race, the GOP primary field appears to be solidifying. Until recently, the Republican race appeared to be shaping up as primarily a contest between former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and Texas Governor Rick Perry. The latest polls out on the primary; however, show former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain finding a surge in support and the Perry’s numbers on the decline. Perry released a statement on Palin’s decision on Wednesday. He said, “Sarah Palin is a good friend, a great American and a true patriot. I respect her decision and know she will continue to be a strong voice for conservative values and needed change in Washington.” As for what’s next for Palin, the former governor said on Wednesday, “In the coming weeks I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the president, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House.” Below, full text of the statement released by Palin on her decision. October 5, 2011 Wasilla, Alaska After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order. My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the “fundamental transformation” of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law. From the bottom of my heart I thank those who have supported me and defended my record throughout the years, and encouraged me to run for President. Know that by working together we can bring this country back – and as I’ve always said, one doesn’t need a title to help do it. I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for President where our candidates must embrace immediate action toward energy independence through domestic resource developments of conventional energy sources, along with renewables. We must reduce tax burdens and onerous regulations that kill American industry, and our candidates must always push to minimize government to strengthen the economy and allow the private sector to create jobs. Those will be our priorities so Americans can be confident that a smaller, smarter government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people can better serve this most exceptional nation. In the coming weeks I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the President, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House. Thank you again for all your support. Let’s unite to restore this country! God bless America. – Sarah Palin
Continue reading …And if you laughed at those remarks, you're a criminal too. Or at the very least, a thought criminal. Yes, you. Liberal radio host Thom Hartmann is peeved that media outlets such as Fox News and CNN are covering the so-called Occupy Wall Street movement and allegedly interviewing only the most “politically unsophisticated” protesters, after searching all of nanoseconds to find them. (audio after page break) Here's Hartmann complaining about this on his radio show yesterday after opening a segment with the all-too-apropo “Take the Money and Run” from paleo-rocker Steve Miller (audio) — You know, this to me is like about as grass roots and about as genuine a populist revolution as you can get. I think it's just absolutely great what is going on out in the streets, what's going on in Washington, D.C., what's going on in New York, and what's going on here. (Hartmann broadcasting from the Take Back the American Dream conference in Washington). There's the absolute outside game, people who are just showing up, may not even be politically aware. They're in fact, in fact, Fox News has made a sport of, and now CNN as well, of going down to the, to the, Erin Burnett with her new show, going down to the, to the Occupy Wall Street group and finding people who are politically unsophisticated and asking them simple questions, getting dumb answers, and then portraying the whole movement as stupid. That, in my opinion, that's a media crime. Got that? If Fox, CNN, etc., don't cover the Wall Street haters, they're ignoring them and what could be a significant story. But if they do cover them and let the protesters have their say, even those without advanced degrees, the reporters doing this are criminals. Spoken like a true would-be judge at a show trial.

Well, it turns out that the US might well be slipping further down the international ‘what speed can you get’ tables as UK telecom giant BT Openreach has just fessed up that it will be rolling out a 300Mbps wholesale network as soon as spring 2012. As the network is FTTP, there shouldn’t be any more of the old ‘up to’ claims that have plagued the UK market until now. Also, since it’s wholesale, we’ve got our fingers crossed there won’t be any nasty price hiking either, so no need for other providers to start bumping their gums about how unfair it is. So it might not be a gigabit network, but with the UK joining the broad-band-super-speed-party, the US needs to up it’s gross point average of 5.3Mbps soon , or risk being left at the children’s table. If you’re prepared to pine mournfully for what your UK friends have in store, hit the PR past the break.
