When lefties Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore think the media's Palin Derangement Syndrome has gone too far, you know the press are hitting new depths of indecency. Judging from the couple's Twitter accounts, the recent feeding frenzy over the former Alaska governor's email was all they could stand : Over the weekend, the former Alaska governor got a surprising show of support from actor Ashton Kutcher, who trashed the media for digging through thousands of emails Palin sent when she was in office. “As much as I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin I find sifting through her emails repulsive and over reaching media,” Kutcher said on Twitter . Appearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee for a confirmation hearing for his appointment as the secretary of defense, Leon Panetta warned that the U.S. could face cyberwarfare in battles to come. “The next Pearl Harbor we confront could very well be a cyber attack that cripples our power systems, our grid, our security systems, our financial systems, our governmental systems,” Panetta said. Though he talked on subjects ranging from Libya, to withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, to the war on terrorism, Panetta highlighted his concerns regarding the U.S.’s preparedness for cyberattacks. “This is a real possibility in today’s world,” he said. “As a result, I think we have to aggressively be able to counter that. It is going to take both defensive measures as well as aggressive measures to deal with it.” The Obama administration recently unveiled its proposal for both global cybersecurity. Statements from the Pentagon have also indicated that the government will consider cyberattacks originating from foreign countries to be equivalent to acts of war meriting military response.

Lawrence O’Donnell received one of Donald Trump’s infamous letters, and on his Friday show, he took the opportunity to savage Trump yet again. Trump is well-known for sending critics angry letters, or press clippings with multiple handwritten notes on them. In the past few months, he sent a blistering letter to New York Times columnist Gail Collins, as well as one to Vanity Fair. O’Donnell pointed out that (until Friday, at least) Trump had never sent him any such letters—odd, given the gleefully contemptuous way that O’Donnell targeted Trump during his public flirtation with a presidential run and his embrace of birtherism. O’Donnell speculated that this was because Trump “knows I’m right about everything I say about him.” Now, though, O’Donnell had a full packet of documents to share. Trump had sent him a print-out of a Dana Milbank column and written on it, “Lawrence, thanks for all your help. Best Wishes, Donald. P.S.: See you in the spring,” along with some other scribbles and underlinings of a section of the column that said NBC had offered him $60 million to stay on “The Apprentice.” O’Donnell responded by attacking Trump’s claim that he is a billionaire.
