Bernie Sanders Expresses Dismay Over Debt Ceiling Negotiations and the Lack of Shared Sacrifice Being Debated

Click here to view this media Here’s Dave Dayden’s take from yesterday on what might be going on during these negotiations over raising the debt limit — Another Yo-Yo Trick: White House Floats, Then Denies, All-Cuts Deal . I don’t know how this is going to play out, but I do know I feel like I’m living through some re-air of the Twilight Zone just watching our politicians play a dangerous game of chicken this close to defaulting on our nation’s debt when this fiasco is one of their own making. I’m also disgusted that Bernie Sanders is one of the few people speaking out about the inequity in our society as he did here again with Keith Olbermann last night. So far as Bernie noted, nothing he’s heard about what’s going on during these meetings addresses that and they’re looking to balance the budget on the backs of the poor and the elderly if the leaks coming out are true.

CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield apparently thinks some Republican players in the debt ceiling debate are concerned that President Obama is conceding too much. During the 12 p.m. EDT hour Friday, Whitfield alleged that many important players from both parties think Obama may be “caving” to Republicans. “You know, there are a lot of players who are very concerned – Democrats and Republicans who are concerned – and particularly Democrats are concerned that the president may be giving up too much in order to come about a deal,” Whitfield remarked while stumbling over her words. [Video below the break.] Whitfield explained that in pushing an agenda of compromise, of including spending cuts and tax increases in a debt ceiling plan, President Obama may be “caving,” according to some “very concerned” members of the debate. A transcript of Whitfield's comments, which aired on July 22 at 12:10 p.m. EDT, is as follows: FREDRICKA WHITFIELD: So, what's interesting — the president keeps the using the word “compromise.” But then there are others who are saying, is president compromising or is he caving? You know, there are a lot of players who are very concerned — Democrats and Republicans who are concerned — and particularly Democrats are concerned that the president may be giving up too much in order to come about a deal.

Poll: Bruce Springsteen Could Be The Boss of New Jersey

In a survey put out by left-leaning Public Policy Polling, respondents were asked if they would vote for singer Bruce Springsteen or current New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in the 2013 election. And the results suggest a certain someone could be born to run. Let us first clarify: Bruce Springsteen is not currently a Democratic

Tiger Woods’ freshly fired caddie is apparently rather miffed at his sudden sacking by the golf great . Name That Party: No Media Report Acknowledges That Embezzling Santa Fe, N.M. Sheriff Is a Democrat

It doesn't get more obvious than this. Former Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano, who pleaded guilty Wednesday to five felony counts, is a Democrat. What follows are the results of three searches demonstrating that every media outlet which can be found by Google News which has tracked the story in the past 30 days has failed to note Solano's party affiliation. First a Google News search on Solano's full name (sorted by date, with duplicates) yields 90 results ( the first page says “about 96,” but it's really 90): A Google News search on ["Greg Solano" Democrat] (typed exactly as indicated between brackets) comes up empty : The same goes for a search on ["Greg Solano" Democratic]: Any questions? Here is a brief description from a recent Associated Press story of Mr. Solano's escapades: Former Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano pleaded guilty Wednesday to five counts of felony fraud. Solano resigned in November and admitted he embezzled and then sold county-owned items like office equipment and bullet-proof vests on eBay. He was arrested in January and charged with 251 counts of embezzlement and one count of fraud. It seems more than a little doubtful that press coverage of a Republican sheriff sentenced for serious crimes of this nature would be able to completely avoid having his or her party identified by any press outlet. Trapster 3.0 helps you avoid speed traps, encourages safety first

Speed limits, highway patrol, other drivers , it can all be such a bummer — especially, if you’re sitting back in one of these . With a little crowdsourced aid, however, and a free Android app, you can still fulfill that need for excessive speed. Recently released on the Android market, Trapster’s v3.0 update refreshes the look of its checkpoint alerting mobile app and throws in some new features for good measure. In addition to the cleaner UI, there’s also a new homescreen widget that lets you vote on upcoming traps and terrain maps to complement the existing standard and satellite versions. But the real standout feature here is the inclusion of a real-time speedometer that should have the heavy-footed reaching for that brake more often . The new function alerts drivers with color-coded warnings should their speed demon ways get the best of the road’s limit. Alright, so the app may discourage your burnt rubber predilections, but that shouldn’t stop you from hitting the source link to download this ticket-avoiding application.
