Mike Huckabee: President Obama Should Nominate Donald Trump to be Treasury Secretary

Click here to view this media After the decision by Standard and Poor’s to downgrade the United States credit rating to AA+, it appears all of the conservatives are now after Tim Geithner’s scalp for saying that the United States was not in danger of having this happen. So who did Mike Huckabee think President Obama should nominate to replace him if he goes on this Saturday’s Fox & Friends? Donald Trump. Not to defend Tim Geithner in any way, shape or form because I’m no fan of his to put it mildly, but Donald Trump Mike? This is the same guy that had to file for bankruptcy four times . And he’s also the same guy who said this — Trump to GOP: Force U.S. default to make sure Obama isn’t re-elected . And that doesn’t even take into account that he’s suggesting that President Obama would want to nominate someone who’s a birther for anything. Click here to view this media

Tiger Woods, Tag Heuer Split: Golfer Loses Luxury Watch Maker As Corporate Sponsor (VIDEO)

If Tiger Woods’ struggles at Bridgestone weren’t enough for him to worry about, he may need to find time to make another Japanese heat rub commercial. Luxury watch maker Tag Heuer has ended its sponsorship deal with the struggling golfer, according to Golf World executive editor Ron Sirak. “Tiger’s agent confirms Woods’ Tag Heuer relationship has expired,” Sirak tweeted Friday evening. According to USA Today, the count on corporate sponsors that are no longer associating with Tiger since a 2009 Thanksgiving car accident ignited a firestorm of controversy and introduced the public to a coterie of mistresses is now up to six. The list also includes Gillette, Gatorade, Accenture, AT&T and Golf Digest. For those who following Tiger’s decline, Tag Heur’s decision should not come as a surprise. In December of 2009, the Swiss company began to “downscale” its collaborations with Woods and the use of his image, specifically in U.S. advertising campaigns. No matter how you look at this, it’s not good news for Tiger, whose struggles recently prompted Forbes to wonder if his fortune is running out. For old time’s sake, here’s a commercial for Tag Heuer watches featuring now former-spokesperson, Tiger Woods. WATCH:

Clarence Page: ‘Is The Tea Party Over?’

Want to know just how scared of the Tea Party America's media are? On Sunday, the Chicago Tribune's Clarence Page published a column entitled “Is The Tea Party Over?”: Has the tea party peaked? Republican lawmakers affiliated with the upstart anti-tax movement scored big in the nerve-racking debt-ceiling debacle, but the victory left enough hard feelings to feed the movement's ultimate defeat. So let's understand Page's thinking. The Tea Party nine months ago scored a huge victory assisting Republicans to the biggest midterm election landslide in decades. The following month, before any of these Tea Partiers had even been sworn into Congress, the President and his Party caved into their wishes by extending the Bush tax cuts. Last week, the President and his Party caved into Tea Party demands to not have tax increases as part of the debt ceiling agreement. And it is the Tea Party that is in danger of “ultimate defeat?” Let's hear more: Polls indicate growing numbers of the public think the teas have become part of the problem they came to Washington to cure. Fully 82 percent of Americans disapprove of Congress' performance in the hard-fought debt limit debate, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll. People love to hate Congress, even when they like their own congressman. But this was Congress' highest disapproval rating, the pollsters said, since they began asking the question in 1977. And public disapproval of the tea party doubled to 40 percent from 18 percent when that question was first asked in April 2010. So a New York Times/CBS News poll finds 40 percent disapprove of the Tea Party. Given how so-called “news” outlets like the Times and CBS have been mercilessly pounding on Tea Party members for over two years, is that surprising? Frankly, it's more shocking given the negative media coverage of this group that more Americans don't disapprove of it. But the only poll that really matters happens on Election Day, and the last one was quite good for the Tea Party. Page sees this as old news: Tea party freshmen faced a more conservative electorate in the 2010 midterms than the larger turnout that's expected in a presidential year. Yet they continue to push further right. Let the voters decide. That's a good point, for midterm elections are typically more participated in by conservatives than liberals with 2006 being a notable exception. As such, history would suggest at least a more moderate turnout next November. However, with the economy weakening, a credit rating downgrade, and monstrous budget deficits as far as the eye can see, it seems specious to project the public rising against the only movement preaching fiscal sanity. Page doesn't see it that way: Grass-roots movements are like bees, an old saying goes, they sting and then they die. The tea party, like the original Boston Tea Party, fits what the founders called a movement of the moment. Like others, the teas are likely to melt, at best, into one of the major parties. Maybe, but this might be wishful thinking. The reality is the Tea Party is the most powerful grassroots movement to hit America's shores in decades, and its real power and impact might yet to be fully felt. This seems especially likely given the trajectory of the economy, the debt, and which Party has basically been in control of government since the downturn happened and the deficit exploded. What Page ignored in his piece is that the nation made a huge turn to the left in 2006 and 2008 in the hopes that the imposition of non-Republican views would improve America. When the Democrats took over Congress in January 2007, unemployment was 4.4 percent. It is now 9.1 percent. The budget deficit created by the outgoing Republican Congress was only $161 billion. It is now $1.6 trillion. The total outstanding debt in January 2007 was $8.7 trillion. It is now $14.6 trillion. And, before the Democrats took control of everything, America's credit rating was AAA. It is now AA+. If Page thinks Americans are going to look at what's happened in the past four years and blame it all on the Tea Party I've got some swampland in Florida I'd like to show him.

Giants, Phillies Fight: Benches Clear After Pitch Hits Shane Victorino (VIDEO)

SAN FRANCISCO (Associated Press) — Benches cleared in the top of the sixth inning during Friday night’s game between the Phillies and Giants after San Francisco reliever Ramon Ramirez hit Shane Victorino in the back with a pitch. Victorino began walking toward the mound and Giants catcher Eli Whiteside stepped in front of him. Placido Polanco raced in from second base and was tackled by Whiteside, who along with Victorino was ejected. Ramirez also was tossed. Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff was in the middle of the scrum and Phillies leadoff man Jimmy Rollins shoved San Francisco bench coach Ron Wotus as they exchanged words. Victorino pushed plate umpire Mike Muchlinski trying to get back into the fray, then was held back by Wotus and Phillies hitting coach Greg Gross. Philadelphia led 8-2. The favored Phillies were eliminated by the Giants in the NL championship series last fall as San Francisco went on to win the franchise’s first World Series title since moving West in 1958. The Giants took two of three in Philadelphia last week.

Lewis Black Explains Why He Doesn’t Do Sarah Palin Jokes (VIDEO)

Veteran comic (and the latest person to hop on the Twitter bandwagon) Lewis Black doesn’t usually shy away form any political targets. But fans of his know that he hardly ever touches on one of comedy’s favorite vixens: Sarah Palin. On the latest episode of “The Green Room With Paul Provenza,” Black elaborated on the subject and explained his reasoning behind leaving Palin alone. He of all people understands that she is “a mother lode” when it comes to political humor post-2008, but he isn’t interested in mocking her. Why? “I could not live in this world if I believed she was a real person,” Black said. Check out the clip below and tell us your thoughts in the comments. “Green Room” airs Thursdays at 11:00 P.M. EST on Showtime. WATCH:

Lantern Sharks Can Become Invisible, Glow-In-The-Dark

The only thing scarier than a shark is a shark you can’t even see. Lantern sharks, which are already known for their small size and bioluminescence, may have one more feature that can keep them safe in a perilous deep ocean environment: invisibility. One new study shows that these rare sharks actually have the ability to create an optical illusion that renders them visually undetectable to predators and prey. These sharks use their light-emitting capabilities in addition to their natural shimmer to create the illusion of light matching their surroundings. From MSNBC: “The photophores replace the down-welling light from the sun, which is absorbed by the shark’s body,” lead author Julien Claes explained to Discovery News. “The silhouette of the shark therefore disappears when seen from below.” The study, which will be published in the Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology, also confirmed new locations for finding this small fish, namely around Okinawa in Japan. Previously, these sharks had only been found in the waters off Taiwan and around southern Japan. The first time scientists were able to study the bioluminescence of sharks in a scientific setting occurred in May 2010, when Claes and his team examined a different species of lantern shark. Researchers at the Catholic University of Louvain got an unprecedented up-close look at a different breed of the sharks, which are known by either their scientific name — Etmopterus spinax, their common name — the velvet belly lantern shark, or their street name — “the phantom hunter of the fjords,” according to Discovery News. These little sharks, reportedly no greater than two feet long, inhabit mainly Atlantic waters, including the Mediterranean Sea and the fjords of Scandinavia. According to the University, researcher Julien Claes became the first scientist to suggest that these sharks control their luminescence not only with nerves, but hormones as well. Many shark species are threatened by the fin trade and overfishing. Learn more here. UPDATE: The image below is courtesy of Professor Jerome Mallefet. He writes to The Huffington Post that he is “head of the marine biology laboratory where we studied the luminous shark with Julien Claes (he was my PhD student, now postdoc). The picture was taken in Norway while I was working with Julien… here is one picture showing one male and one female.”
