Toshiba’s rumored ultra-thin tablet plays peek-a-boo at IFA?

Well, would you look at that? It appears someone just can’t manage to stay out of our field of vision. The shot you see above is apparently the same ultra-thin tablet we ran across two days ago in what appeared to be leaked renders . Now, it’s reportedly peeking out of a booth at IFA . From what we (and now you) can see, it’s running Android and sporting a front facing camera. Rumor has it, the slate will also carry a TI OMAP4460 dual-core 1.5GHz processor, micro-USB, micro HDMI and microSD slots. Of course, we’ll just have to wait see if things shake out, but we’ll be here at IFA trying our damndest to get this skinny sucker to come out of hiding. With his memoir, and accompanying media blitz, Dick Cheney is trying to provoke us into once again discussing the merits of torture, a topic “about as compelling as a debate about the efficacy of slavery or Jim Crow laws,” writes Dahlia Lithwick of Slate . Almost everyone agrees torture isn’t effective,…

T.I. Gets Out of Prison and Lands a Reality Show in One Day

The reality television gods seem to be a generous lot. Whenever a subject matter captures the most remotely mundane interest, a camera crew is there. When it comes to rapper T.I., these digitized deities seem to be especially generous, because when the emcee (born Clifford Harris) walked out of an Arkansas federal penitentiary on Wednesday,

Michele Bachmann’s Hair Coveted By NY, CA Women (PHOTO, VIDEO)

You won’t find too many fans of Michele Bachmann’s politics in New York and Los Angeles. But as the New York Daily News reports, liberal women on both coasts are coveting the politico’s bouncy, highlighted hairstyle. “A lot of clients have asked for Sarah Palin hair in the past four years, and now, it’s Bachmann,” a Los Angeles hair stylist told the Daily News. “I have found it a little bit amazing how many women have been coming in asking for her hair style, even though they don’t agree with her politics,” concurred a Manhattan hair dresser. The ‘do is “safe, but not soccer mom. It’s sexy.” Well, we don’t know if we’d go that far. But Bachmann does have decent hair, with subtle highlights and pretty good texture — not too limp, not too Sarah Palin bouffant-y. The look doesn’t come cheap, however. The bills for Tamara Robertson, Bachmann’s hair and makeup stylist, have already reached $4,700, which Bachmann has paid for (just as past candidates have) with campaign funds. Robertson was specifically requested after Bachmann admired her work at (where else?) Fox News, the New Yorker writes. Along with Bachmann’s press secretary, Alice Stewart, and personal assistant, Tera Dahl, she’s the one who keeps the candidate looking glamorous. It’s an important mission. After all, her appearance may be just about the only thing American liberals like about her. Read more lovable liberal snark at NYDailyNews.com and check out a pic of Bachmann’s locks below.

Police Baton Muslims at New York Amusement Park After Headscarf Dispute

Click here to view this media Police in Westchester County, New York Tuesday arrested about 15 members of the Muslim community after a scuffle broke out over a ban on headscarves on some rides at Rye Playland amusement park. Park officials blamed a “misunderstanding” that occurred when some Muslim women were asked to remove their hijabs to ride certain rides, according to MyFoxNY.com . A statement from the Westchester County Executive’s Office claimed that two park rangers were injured “[i]n the course of restoring calm” after a disagreement broke out between some of the Muslim men and women. But the version of events park patrons described to Patch was significantly different. They say that police used excessive force by tackling and beating one of the women with batons as she lay on the ground. Others defending the woman were also beaten. “I don’t give **** about your culture,” one female officer reportedly told one of the Muslim women. Later in the day, about 50 members of the Muslim community prayed outside the gates as they waited for news about the others that had been arrested. “Just yards away outside the park’s entrance gate, a row of Westchester County police stood in helmets and protective vests,” Patch’s Renea Henry reported. “More than 40 law enforcement vehicles, cruisers and SUVs, even canine units, from municipalities across the county, lined the entry road to the amusement park. Even more law enforcement officers blocked park access roads in all directions.” Rye Playland is the only government-owned amusement park in the country. Click here to view this media
