Rick Perry’s speech at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University today made one thing clear about the Texas governor: He will “not shy away from cloaking his candidacy in his Christianity,” writes Philip Rucker in the Washington Post . In fact, he “presented his life in deeply spiritual terms and cast his political…

Sprint begins iPhone briefings, exact model number remains questionable

Are you a Sprint subscriber? Super stoked about possibly getting your hands on an iPhone ? It seems as though you’re finally about to be in business. After a chat with a freshly-briefed, forthcoming sales associate, TUAW is reporting that the carrier will start offering an Apple device of some sort next month alongside existing data plans — providing some confirmation for the recent Wall Street Journal report . Things get a bit cloudy after that in regards to exactly which handset the carrier will obtain, but the sales force is currently getting familiar with the iPhone 4. Regardless of which iPhone Sprint ends up procuring, it’s getting fairly impossible to shake the (seemingly) obvious. We’ll see in a month, eh? Taxi driver found dead at his mother’s house in Preston, Lancashire, along with baby son who later died in hospital A father is thought to have killed his six-month-old son before hanging himself. Paul McBride, 39, was found dead at his mother’s house in Preston, Lancashire, on Wednesday. His son, who has not been named, was found in a “very poorly” condition and taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Officers and family had been looking for the taxi driver after concerns were raised about his welfare. His sister found his body after arriving at the house in the suburb of Ribbleton, shortly after 6pm. Their mother, Denise Betts, is thought to be on holiday in France. Lancashire Police have launched a murder investigation but are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident. A post-mortem examination will take place on Thursday to establish how the child died. A police spokeswoman said detectives from the force’s Major Investigation Team were leading the inquiry. “Officers were called to an incident at an address in the Ribbleton area of Preston at around 6.15pm,” she said. “On arrival, a man was found dead and a six-month-old boy was in a very poorly condition. He was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he sadly died.” Detective Superintendent Neil Esseen, who is leading the investigation, said it was an “incredibly tragic” case. “It is being treated as a murder inquiry, although we are not looking for anybody else in connection with this incident, he said. “We are still in the very early stages of this investigation, but we are conducting a number of inquiries in order to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.” A neighbour said: “It’s shocking, a terrible thing. I knew Paul. He was a happy, jolly type. He was always jokey and loved football. “He had moved away, so we didn’t see much of him any more. His mother is on holiday so I don’t even know why he was at the house.” Crime guardian.co.uk

Anna Faris Talks Women Actresses, Co-Stars And Boob Jobs In Marie Claire

Women of Hollywood, do yourselves — and your careers — a favor: find Anna Feris’s number. And call it. And no, that’s not a pun on her upcoming film, either. The “House Bunny” and “Scary Movie” standout is due to star in the upcoming sex comedy, “What’s Your Number?” and, if it does as well as expected, it’s going to make her a very powerful lady in show business. Unfortunately, it’s a rarity that a woman star can top line a straight comedy, and even rarer that an all-woman ensemble can do so. It happened with this spring’s “Bridesmaids,” and if Faris can pull it off, she says she wants her own “equivalent of the Judd Apatow crew,” alluding to the Seth Rogen-led humor frat that consistently opens films to great fanfare. She’s already taking applications. “When we meet each other, it’s always at some fussy event where everyone’s, you know, schmoozy and full of sh*t. So it’s difficult,” Faris tells Marie Claire in their new issue. “I would love to have more actress friends, but I just don’t… I have to call somebody’s agent and be like, ‘Hey, I know this is crazy — I don’t even have a specific project — but I’d really like to hang out with this girl.’ It has to be awkwardly coordinated like that.” One potential project to get in touch with her about: “Gold Diggers,” which she’s producing herself. “It’s really exciting to create something, sell it, and feel like I’m not just a pawn waiting to be cast,” she said about the project. That Faris has reached this moment in her career speaks to her talent, but also her perseverance. After a three year marriage fell apart in 2007, she went off the rails a bit, getting a boob job and hitting the sauce. “I was like, ‘F*ck it, I’ve got nothing to lose, nobody to support,’” she remembered thinking. “I wore the same Garfield shirt and jeans for three weeks. I had a running joke with my friend: ‘I hope somebody roofies me tonight!’ I didn’t care what people thought.” Now married to Chris Pratt, an emerging comedy star in his own right, Faris now doesn’t have to worry what people think: she’s about to be in charge.
