Mike Huckabee is so concerned with the fact that most American children don’t know enough about their country’s history that he’s ready to step in there and do what he can go fill that gap, by making it worse of course. This isn’t a new story but it’s disgusting to see Van Susteren giving him another plug for this garbage on her show last night. Mike Huckabee Fixes American History : Don’t worry, American youth: Mike Huckabee has fixed American history. No longer will you suffer under what Huckabee calls “the ‘blame America first’ attitude prevalent in today’s teaching.” Late Wednesday, Huckabee announced LearnOurHistory.com , a sort of BMG Music Club for what he calls “unbiased” historical lessons for kids. For around $15 each, the company will send you a new animated tale of American history each month, told through the eyes of a gang of time traveling kids. The first video (available for just $9.95, with a gift bag full of goodies)? “The Reagan Revolution.” Naturally. In this 90-second preview of the video, one sees a tale of an America in 1970s decay, where unemployed muggers in “DISCO” tanktops threatened anyone they could find with knives. Then came a man that could restore hope to the land: Ronald Reagan. Read on… It wasn’t long ago that Huckabee was also promoting David Barton’s dangerous revisionist history at the “Rediscover God In America” conference I posted on here — Huckabee Says He Wants Americans To Be Indoctrinated At Gunpoint by David Barton . I guess someone’s got to make up for Beck eventually leaving the air at Fox. Transcript below the fold. VAN SUSTEREN: All right, well, let me just turn quickly you have a learn our history. It’s a program you have. What is that? HUCKABEE: Greta, you know, if you tell an 8-year-old, Hey, I’d like to teach about American history, they’ll probably say to you, Why don’t you just set my hair on fire? But if you tell an 8-year-old, Hey, would you like to watch some cartoons, they’ll say, Oh, yeah. If the cartoons teach them that America is a good country and teaches them some wonderful things about America’s history, that’s Learn Our History is all about. It’s really a program for kids ages 7 and up to teach them American history in a language and in a format that makes sense to kids. Now, the thing that I find interesting, 91 percent of liberals who were shown the videos said they not only learned something, they would buy them for their kids. What I find interesting is that we’ve got a real serious history deficit in the country. Do you realize that only 25 percent of high school seniors in America surveyed even know that George Washington was the first president? That’s amazing to me that kids are that ignorant of their history of this great country. So Learn Our History is about helping them to learn it beyond the classroom in an entertaining and fun way. And I hope that people will take a look at the videos for their kids at Learnourhistory.com. VAN SUSTEREN: Yeah and it’s probably great for adults, too. I probably could use some refresher myself. Presented by Moscow’s Garage Center for Contemporary Culture, and running (or sailing) concurrently with the opening week of the 54th Venice Biennale, COMMERICAL BREAK is curated by Neville Wakefield and will include contemporary painting bigwig Richard Phillips’ first foray into film, Lindsay Lohan. The short film, which features the famously-troubled blonde mega-celebrity in all manner of brooding, bikini-clad swimming and sunning scenes; a portrait of the star that vividly evokes the decades-old cinematic tropes of sexy fragrance ads, in keeping with the floating exhibition’s theme of navigating commercial and creative combinations. It’s also apropos of the setting next month in Venice, when tourists and art-makers share the streets for the Biennale’s five-month stretch. (via GagosianGallery) Reminiscent of classic bombshell swimsuit moments — á la “10″ starring Bo Derek — the film is the quintessence of convention, to the point of banality. (And that’s the point). Viewers should expect as much from Phillips’ filmic debut as they should from a Calvin Klein Obsession ad, but with a much better soundtrack. San Franciso’s Tamaryn provides the score for the minute-and-a-half film, whose epically lush, shoegazey track “Cascades” ripples over each cascading wave caught on film. Lohan is less significant for being a pretty insignificant piece of work, and more so for what it will bring to Wakefield’s smart, floating show.

Gay activist/sex columnist Dan Savage has been honored across the liberal media elite as an anti-bullying activist. Will any of his media-elite fans notice his latest column that repeatedly asks a recently retired 69-year-old conservative Canadian Member of Parliament to perform oral sex on him…in front of a camera crew? In his latest “Savage Love” column , published in alternative weekly newspapers in hip cities across America, Savage insisted anyone who insists homosexuality is a choice and not an unavoidable genetic trait is a “choicer” and part of “just another group of deranged conspiracy theorists,” like 9/11 truthers and birthers. Here’s the complete attack (warning: graphic sexual bullying follows). THE CHOICER CHALLENGE: Last week, the leader of British Columbia's Conservative Party, John Cummins, told a radio interviewer that gay people shouldn't be covered by the BC Human Rights Act because being gay is “a conscious choice.” Like truthers (9/11 was an inside job!), birthers (Barack Obama was born in Kenya!), and deathers (Osama bin Laden is alive and well and living in West Hollywood!), choicers would appear to be just another group of deranged conspiracy theorists who can't be dissuaded by science or evidence or facts. And John Cummins isn't the only choicer out there. We have lots of choicers right here in the United States (Tony Perkins, Rick Santorum, “Stephen Colbert,” et al.). But what if the choicers are right? What if being gay is something people consciously choose? Gee, if only there were a way for choicers to prove that they're right and everyone else is wrong… actually, there is a way for choicers to prove that they're right! I hereby publicly invite—I publicly challenge—John Cummins to prove that being gay is a choice by choosing it himself. Suck my dick, John. I'm completely serious about this, John. You're not my type—you're about as far from my type as a human being without a vagina gets—but I have just as much interest as you do in seeing this gay-is-a-choice argument resolved once and for all. You name the time and the place, John, and I'll show up with my dick and a camera crew. Then you can show the world how it's done. You can demonstrate how this “conscious choice” is made. You can flip the switch, John, make the choice, then sink to your bony old knees and suck my dick. In Canada, the liberal CBC treated the John Cummins comments as strange and unpopular. Reporter Chris Brown insisted only 23 percent of Canadians agreed in a poll that homosexuality is a choice instead of genetic.
