Alan Colmes and Cal Thomas Spar Over Media’s Love For Obama

Alan Colmes and Cal Thomas had a humorous exchange about the media's love for Obama on Saturday's “Fox News Watch.” After Thomas asked when the press will come to their senses and admit they were wrong about the messiah-like powers of the former junior Senator from Illinois, Colmes replied, “You keep presuming the media is supporting this guy and they're not” (video follows with transcript and commentary): CAL THOMAS: You know what the press is really reluctant to do, and I think they're going to have to do it at some point? We’ve said on this show before they were cheerleaders leading up to 2008 election. This was the guy who was going to part the waters. He was going to smooth out the crooked places, do all of these things, cure tooth decay, falling hair, everything else, and now they’re realizing he's mortal just like every other president. When are they coming to their senses and say, “You know, we were wrong about this guy?” ALAN COLMES: You keep presuming the media is supporting this guy and they're not. THOMAS: Well, they certainly did in 2008. COLMES: They’re not. THOMAS: Well, then they were wrong. COLMES: You know what, whenever some liberal gets elected, and he's not even that liberal… THOMAS: [Laughs] COLMES: …it’s the media that did it. Whenever a conservative does, it’s the people have spoken. So Colmes doesn't only believe the media haven't been supporting Obama, he also thinks the current White House resident isn't that liberal. Do you need to know anything more about the value of his opinions?

Norah O’Donnell: Obama Has More Aggressively Prosecuted the War on Terror Than Bush

As she steps into her new role as CBS News Chief White House correspondent, Norah O'Donnell may have made a good impression on the man she'll now be covering with comments she made this weekend. While chatting with the panel of “The Chris Matthews Show,” O'Donnell told the host that President Obama has more aggressively prosecuted the War on Terror than George W. Bush (video follows with transcript and commentary): NORAH O’DONNELL: I covered the Bush White House. He started the war in Afghanistan. But it took President Obama to finally capture and kill bin Laden. There have been more drone attacks under the Obama administration than the Bush administration. There’s an argument that can be made, and there are numbers that support that Obama has more aggressively prosecuted the quote unquote War on Terror – if you like that phrase, some don’t – than Bush did. In reality, you can make an argument about anything you choose, but that doesn't mean it will be cogent. If you were to add up all the terrorists – including high-value targets such as Saddam Hussein, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi – that were captured or killed during Bush's two terms, there's no question that total would far exceed the number since Obama was elected. The lives saved as a result of Hussein and KSM's capture alone far exceed any as yet realized benefit from bin Laden's death which could in the end be more symbolic than anything else. The primary goal of the War on Terror when Bush began it was to prevent a further attack on the American homeland, and that has clearly succeeded. Have there been some significant victories since January 20, 2009? Certainly, with the murder of bin Laden being the boldest. However, George W. Bush kept America safe for over seven years following 9/11. Until Obama exceeds that, this “argument” is specious.

Tokyo researchers hijack your hand, help you play the koto (video)

Researchers over in the land of the robot-obsessed have found a new, non-invasive way to control your hand while your brain recoils in horror. Reassuringly named the PossessedHand, this belt of electro-stimulation wraps its pad of twenty-eight electrodes around your forearm triggering a range of sixteen bewitched joint actions. Project leader Emi Tamaki claims it feels more like a light massage than say, a full-on Freejack. However, one test subject confessed, “[It was] like my body was hacked” — so that’s comforting. This joint production between the University of Tokyo’s Rekimoto Lab and Sony Computer Science Laboratories was first tested as a musical training aide, but could someday help stroke victims regain mobility. For now, the stimulation isn’t strong enough to turn you into an automated Steve Vai (or secret assassin), but it definitely lends new meaning to ‘hands-off.’ Check the video after the break for a demonstration and some unsettling narration. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers honored extraordinary lover Diddy with their Founding Fathers award, and on hand to introduce the Dirty Money-less “Looking For Love” rapper was last year’s recipient, the one and only Chrysler-shilling Dr. Dre. OnLive Viewer hits HTC Flyer, ripped and posted for other Android gaming voyeurs (video)

Those of you toting around an HTC Flyer probably just got an update that loaded OnLive Viewer on your 7-inch tablet. Don’t get too excited though, the name of the app says it all — this is a viewer not a player . So, if you’ve got a voyeuristic streak, you can watch others shoot their way through F.E.A.R. 3 , but you won’t slowing down time yourself. If that sounds like a blast but you don’t have a Flyer, fear not, the folks at the XDA forums were kind enough to rip the APK and post it for all the world to enjoy. We successfully tested it on a Droid X, and reports are that it’s up and running on the EVO 4G, Desire HD, and even a hacked Nook Color. Once installed you’ll just need a WiFi connection (the app kicks you back to the homescreen on 3G) and low expectations — the video quality was less than impressive. Hit up the source link to download it for yourself, and check out the video our tipster sent us after the break. [Thanks, Phil] Continue reading OnLive Viewer hits HTC Flyer, ripped and posted for other Android gaming voyeurs (video) OnLive Viewer hits HTC Flyer, ripped and posted for other Android gaming voyeurs (video) originally appeared on Engadget on Sun, 26 Jun 2011 06:59:00 EDT. NextComputing wants you to take your desktop for a stroll, preferably a short one

After watching NextComputing dance around the definition of mobile computing for so long , we’re not all that surprised to see the firm tease its first suitcase-desktop sporting an internal battery. The headlining promise of two to four hours of battery life, however? We’ll take the whole salt shaker, thanks. NextComputing’s half-minute demo shows an unnamed workstation disconnected, unplugged, and lugged off. We’re not really sure where it’s going, or why it needs to be left on for the trip, but hey — a desktop with a battery still beats a laptop without one. That’s Vaginal, a Campaign to Make Vaginal the New Awesome

That’s Vaginal is a campaign to replace the word “awesome” with the word “vaginal.” Because, as Carlton the cat puts it, vaginas are awesome.
