Scarborough: If Rush is Still Rooting Against Obama He’s ‘Rooting for America to be in a Fast Decline’

For some reason, in the middle of a lengthy “Morning Joe” segment dealing with President Obama's obvious failures as a leader, host Joe Scarborough on Thursday felt the need to bring up conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh (video follows with transcript and commentary): JOE SCARBOROUGH: The fact that the President waited to talk about the SEALs and then just kind of put that in on the end of a press conference. “Oh, and by the way.” Somebody in the White House doesn't get it. Somebody in the White House is clueless. When you have 30 Americans die and it's treated that way when, again, I’m, I'm baffled. I'm rooting for the President. We all are rooting for the President. If, if Rush Limbaugh is still rooting against the President, then he's also rooting for America to be in a fast decline, rooting for his stocks to collapse. These are precarious times and we need a president who knows what he's doing and a we need a president who has the support of the American people but, Willie, right now this President is just creating a lot more questions than answers. This was some real silliness from Scarborough. Let's recall what Limbaugh told Fox News's Sean Hannity on January 22, 2009: SEAN HANNITY, HOST: You're the leading voice of opposition, conservative, and have defined conservatives for over two decades. You celebrated you r20 years on the air, by the way, nationally syndicated, congratulations. RUSH LIMBAUGH: Thank you. HANNITY: Coming off record-ratings year for you, but you — you are a passionate conservative. You've defined conservatives for many people in this country for years. He represents the antithesis in terms of his world view. So then the question becomes, do you want him to succeed? LIMBAUGH: Now — this — I am so glad that he asked me that question. That you asked me this question. HANNITY: I'm glad to. LIMBAUGH: I'll tell you why. I am hearing many Republicans say that — well, we want him to succeed and prominent Republicans. Yes, we wanted — they have laid down. They have totally — they're drinking the Kool- Aid, too. They have no guts to stand up for what their beliefs are because they're afraid of criticism, they're afraid of being called racists, they're afraid of not having gotten with the program. Now success can be defined two ways. I said earlier I don't know about this guy. I really don't. I've got my — I've got my suspicions, and they're pretty close to convictions, but we're going to have to wait to see what he does. Now if he turns out to be a Reagan, if he adds Reagan to his recipe of FDR and Lincoln, and if he does cut some taxes. HANNITY: Yes. LIMBAUGH: If he does not eliminate the Bush tax cuts, I would call that success. So yes, I would hope he would succeed if he acts like Reagan, but if he's going to do FDR, if he's going to do the new, new deal all over which we will call here the raw deal, why would I want him to succeed? Look, he's my president. The fact that he is historic is irrelevant to me now. It matters not at all. I — if he is going to implement a far left — look it. I think it's already decided. $2 trillion in stimulus? The growth of government. I think the intent here is to create as many dependant Americans as possible looking to government for their hope and salvation. If he gets nationalized health care, I mean, it's over, Sean. We're never going to roll that back. That's the end of America as we have known it because that's then going to set the stage for everything being government owned, operated, or provided. Why would I want that to succeed? I don't believe in that. I know that's not how this country is going to be great in the future, it's not what made this country great. So I shamelessly say, no, I want him to fail, if his agenda is a far- left collectivism, some people say socialism, as a conservative heartfelt, deeply, why would I want socialism to succeed? Two and a half years later, that question is even more valid given what we've seen this President do. He has indeed failed, and wishing for him to succeed at doing what he's been doing since Inauguration Day is like hoping for your own doom. As I wrote Tuesday, all this media cheerleading for Obama has had a hand in his ineptness because his fans in the press have continued applauding as he's fallen on his face dragging the country with it. What he really needs are more members of the media to aggressively criticize him when he errs. Maybe then he'll change his ways and actually give people something legitimately worth cheering about.

Reince Priebus Shrugs: We Need to Have a Country of Makers and Not Takers

Click here to view this media While discussing his opinions on the Wisconsin recall elections and the Republicans hanging onto their one seat majority in the Senate, RNC Chair Reince Priebus said the elections presented a lesson for the whole nation. One as TPM noted was pretty well a “pocket-sized John Galt speech” — Priebus Toasts Wis. Recalls: ‘We Need To Have A Country Of Makers, And Not A Country Of Takers’ (VIDEO) : MSNBC host Contessa Brewer asked Priebus what message could be ‘extrapolated’ from the recalls, which were launched by the Democrats and organized labor in a backlash against Gov. Scott Walker’s new law eliminating most collective bargaining rights that public employee unions had previously enjoyed. Democrats picked up two seats, just short of the three that they needed in order to flip control of the chamber. “Well, Contessa, I mean, I view it as a 100 percent, absolute victory for not only the people in Wisconsin, but for all Americans that want to make sure that their government is listening, and that they can start living within its means,” said Priebus. “And so after $30 million of big-government union money coming in, and a manufactured outrage that they’ve tried to put together in Wisconsin, we remain red. We won the Prosser [state Supreme Court] race in Wisconsin, we won again yesterday, we may win one or two next week. “I think for the country, it’s the start of having a debate, and winning the debate, that we need to have a country of makers, and not a country of takers. And I think that’s important in saving not only Wisconsin, but a lot of other states that are watching. And I think it’s a good signal, and a good sign, and a good tell, for the rest of America as to where the electorate is moving, and they’re moving to winning a battle of individual freedom for America.” This is the same guy who just said not to pay any attention to these recalls — RNC Chair: Pay No Attention To The Wisconsin Recalls, National Reporters : RNC chair Reince Priebus, a former chair of the Wisconsin Republican Party, says there’s no need for national political reporters to try and glean anything about the 2012 elections from the state Senate recall fight underway in his home state, where Democrats seem to have the momentum. Because heaven forbid anyone should have learned the lesson that boots on the ground and organizing might have a chance to overcome all that Koch money flowing into the state had they managed to regain the Senate. And for all the positive spin the Republicans are trying to put on this, they can’t be happy about what it says for the real chance of Scott Wallker being recalled next year. If they get these same sort of results in other ruby red counties, they’ve got a chance to actually get him out of office. And surprise, surprise, Walker’s saying Wisconsin doesn’t want any more recall elections — Walker Says Wisconsin Doesn’t Want More Recalls (Against Him) .

Slow-Motion Eagle-Owl Landing: Remarkable Video Shows Animal In Flight

We know that vibrations, huge bursting water balloons and sonic booms look pretty cool when viewed in slow-motion. But wild animals are especially awesome. Although this slow-motion video of an owl landing was uploaded over two years ago, it’s making the rounds on the Web after being posted on Videosift, The Daily What and Arbroath. According to the video’s description on YouTube, the footage is taken at 1,000 frames per second using a Photron SA2 HD camera. Although the YouTube user only describes the animal as an “eagleowl,” the Oregon Zoo says that Eurasian Eagle Owls “are large owls with prominent ear tufts that are usually not raised upright. Because of this, their feather tufts probably help them more with communication and recognition than camouflage.” Can’t get enough birds? Check out these videos of baby geese growing up and a beautiful, endangered Albatross soaring through the sky. Watch the video below and let us know what you think in the comments. Via Buzzfeed.

Mad Catz Cyborg Rat Albino first hands-on

Mad Catz’ aggressively named “Rat” mouse line already looks like an exploding space ship of awesome in the form of a humble human interface device, but why not give it a hint more futuristic edge? Enter the Cyborg Rat Albino, Mad Catz’ alabaster successor to the Rat 7, hitting the scene looking sleeker, cleaner, and somehow ever-so-slightly more futuristic than its matte black brethren. Although the Albino is still technically a Rat 7 itself, this murine clicker squeaked into the Engadget game room to show us it had a little more to flaunt than just a new paint job. Lauren Bush <![CDATA[&]]> David Lauren To Marry In September, Bride Will Become Lauren Bush Lauren

We’re inching closer to another royal wedding — fashion (and American) royalty, that is! Page Six reports that FEED designer and former president George H.’s granddaughter Lauren Bush and David Lauren, son of Ralph, recently feted their engagement with an all-white party in Water Mill, New York. The gossip column adds that the nuptials will be held in September at the Lauren family ranch in Telluride, and, most importantly: “the bride will take the name ‘Lauren Bush Lauren.’” Period. No hyphen. Well, that sounds pretty definitive to us — back in April, Lauren Bush joked about her what-to-call-myself conundrum with Harper’s Bazaar: “Out of all the people I could’ve met and fallen in love with,” says a laughing Bush, now 26, of her husband-to-be, “it’s just ironic that David would end up with someone named Lauren.” [....] “I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren. That’s not final, but I think it’s nice to have the same name as your husband. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way.” And it can’t hurt when your husband’s dad is responsible for creating your dress. Lauren also told the glossy that future father-in-law Ralph would be putting together her gown, the second bride he’ll clothe this year. He — along with some help from Vera Wang — also created a silk tulle and duchess satin dress, with a nine-foot, tiered train for his daughter Dylan’s nuptials. She posed in the gown for the August issue of Vogue, telling the glossy, “It’s really beautiful. I know that every bit of his energy and heart went into making sure that I liked it.” Read more about the Bush-Lauren engagement party at NYPost.com.
