Cole World looks like a pretty grim (and child-inappropriate) place to be, at least from what we see in J. Cole’s latest music video for “Daddy’s Little Girl.” Ever since we got a look at the Cole World track list, we had a feeling we’d be hearing a rumination on how kids grow up and … More » Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Idolator Discovery Date : 25/09/2011 20:06 Number of articles : 2

The former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza won the test of conservative strength with roughly 37 percent of the vote. Texas Governor Rick Perry came in second place, followed by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who did not actively compete in the event. Here’s a full breakdown of the results: Herman Cain: 37.11% Rick Perry: 15.43% Mitt Romney: 14.00% Rick Santorum: 10.88% Ron Paul: 10.39% Newt Gingrich: 8.43% Jon Huntsman: 2.26% Michele Bachmann: 1.51% “This is a sign of our growing momentum and my candidacy that cannot be ignored,” Cain said in a statement addressing the results. “I will continue to share my message of ‘common sense solutions’ across this country and look forward to spending more time in Florida, a critical state for both the nomination and the general election.” Perry, who was expected by many to win the straw poll, signaled his belief earlier in the day that it was a “big mistake” for rival candidates like Romney and Bachmann to opt against campaigning for support in the event. The Lone Star State Republican said, “I’ve got all my hopes on Florida.” HuffPost’s Jon Ward reported from Florida on Friday: Just a few weeks ago, the Texas governor was taking the Republican presidential primary by storm, but his star has fallen rapidly over the course of his first three debates. On Thursday night, it came crashing down. Conservatives flocked to the three-day conclave here – kicked off by the Google-Fox News debate Thursday night – “ready to marry” Perry, but left “spooked” by his performance, said one Florida Republican with contacts among both campaign operatives and grassroots activists. That discontent has been building, though it’s not final in any sense. Perry’s fortunes have fallen in large part because of a series of gaffes that demonstrated his lack of discipline and experience on a national stage. In several key moments during the past few weeks, the governor showed a tendency to undermine some of his best moments and to make tough or difficult moments even worse. His potential supporters have grown leery of Perry as the list of his unforced errors has grown longer. Before hitting bumps in the road, Perry experienced a surge in the polls after announcing his candidacy for president of the United States. The Texas governor jumped into the GOP primary race the same day as the Ames Straw Poll. He did not actively compete in the event, which was won by Bachmann. Even though Bachmann did not campaign for support in the Florida straw poll, the conservative congresswoman’s eighth place finish is likely to be treated as a sign of bad news for her political ambitions. Nevertheless, on Friday Bachmann said she’s “in it for the long haul” despite many framing the race as a match-up between Perry and Romney for the Republican presidential nomination. Whether or not the results of the Florida straw poll will affect the state of the GOP primary race remains to be seen. While Cain has been considered a longshot contender in the Republican contest, the presidential hopeful has found success in appealing to conservatives on the trail.

Continue reading …Amazing footage from a delivery truck’s dashboard shows the incredible force of the Japanese tsunami that hit the country in March. The video made the rounds on Twitter over the last couple days and even got billed on “Today” as “new video.” The problem with describing it as recently discovered footage is that the video has been on YouTube since June 20. The clip has logged more than 1.7 million views over the last three months, with good reason — the footage is disturbingly powerful. So, as the old slogan goes, “If you haven’t seen it, it’s new to you.” If you’re not one of the million-plus people who have watched the video, you can check it out below. Following the tsunami, the use of nuclear power has been questioned in Japan. On Monday, the Associated Press reported that tens of thousands of people marched through Tokyo chanting “Sayonara nuclear power.” WATCH the tsunami footage: TEPCO Tsunami Photos: RELATED VIDEO:

As Suskind told CNN's Howard Kurtz Sunday, these are “[m]any of the folks who were praising me mightily during the Bush era” for books criticizing the previous president (video follows with transcript and commentary): HOWARD KURTZ, HOST: Hasn't the Obama team succeeded in this respect: when your book first came out, the headlines were about dysfunctional administration, president, inexperienced president not ready to govern, and women in the White House felt that they were being given short shrift. Now all of the stories and interviews – and I guess we're doing it here to some extent – are about the credibility of Ron Suskind. So was this a tactic to make you the issue? RON SUSKIND: I think that as people read the book, they're often surprised to see this is not sensational. This is very well sourced. It's complete. It's credible, and in the book, there are long passages of responses from the key actors to all of the major disclosures. That was part of the idea of making the book complete as a text in and of itself. I think much of the attacks, they came prior to the book being in people's hands. Now that it is in people's hands, already that is turning. KURTZ: But does it disappoint you that some of the criticism from people in this administration has been so personal toward you? SUSKIND: You know, Howie, you know as well as anybody it's a tough town. Many of the folks who were praising me mightily during the Bush era – these are the most definitive works on George Bush, this is the historical record – now are doing their best to struggle really to discredit those books and discredit this book. KURTZ: Are you suggesting it's ideological, that some people who are liberals are perfectly happy to have you go after President Bush and not so happy to have you go after Barack Obama? SUSKIND: Well, certainly many commentators have pointed that out. That’s not just me. I think that's part of the way this works. Yes, but wouldn't it be wonderful if it didn't work that way? If Suskind was considered a credible journalist in the previous decade while he was severely criticizing one president, how does he become persona non grata for criticizing the next? Is the bias in the media so pervasive and acknowledged that it's just accepted as a fact of life? Is impartiality in journalism really dead, and expecting otherwise just a fantasy? How can our great nation survive if not only isn't there any objectivity in the news media, there's also no burning desire outside of the small circle of conservative analysts and commentators for there to be any? What this episode demonstrates is that unless you toe the Democratic Party line as a journalist, you will be hounded by your colleagues even if what you report is factual. Pretty darned scary when you think about it.
