Sharp’s biggest LCD HDTVs get even bigger with a new 80-inch model

When is big not big enough? Apparently when it’s Sharp’s “spectacularge” 70-inch AQUOS LCD HDTVs that were introduced earlier this year, and have now been surpassed by a new 80-inch model the company showed off today. The LC-80LE632U isn’t an Elite branded model, but it brings all the features of its smaller brethren including full LED backlighting, 120Hz motion processing, built-in WiFi and access to services like Netflix and Vudu. All that is nice, but it’s standout feature is that extra viewing area, which can be yours for $5,499 (MSRP) when it starts shipping in early October. Preorders are already popping up for sub-$5k prices, if you need a big screen and can’t go the projection route (front or rear) this might be a good value — check out the details in the press release after the break. Scarborough: People Shocked By Fox’s Political Agenda Ignore Democrats Used Media This Way for 30 Years

As NewsBusters reported Monday, Newsweek featured an in-depth look at Fox News and chairman Roger Ailes in its most recent installment. When this subject came up on MSNBC's “Morning Joe” Tuesday, after the guests predictably carped and whined about FNC's conservative leanings, host Joe Scarborough observed, “People are shocked and stunned at the blurred lines when Roger Ailes and Fox does it, not so shocked and stunned when Democratic establishment figures have been doing it over the past three decades” (video follows with transcript and commentary): JOHN HEILEMANN, NEW YORK MAGAZINE: Let us never forget that Roger Ailes, you know, was before he was a great television producer was a great political strategist, and was someone who was a hard bone deep partisan. MIKA BRZEZINSKI, CO-HOST: Maybe just a little too good at both. TINA BROWN, NEWSWEEK/DAILY BEAST: Wow, exactly right. HEILEMANN: I mean, won the election for George Herbert Walker Bush in 1988. He's, you know, he’s played both sides of that street for a long time. BROWN: And as was just said, a little too good at both. JOE SCARBOROUGH: Just like, we got to say, just like a hell of a lot of people in the mainstream media over the past 30 years have played both sides of the street, but they’re always on the Democratic side. That's what makes it so unique. People are shocked and stunned at the blurred lines when Roger Ailes and Fox does it, not so shocked and stunned when Democratic establishment figures have been doing it over the past three decades. MARK HALPERIN, TIME MAGAZINE: What sets Roger apart from most of the Democrats who play both sides of this is Roger has been awesome at both jobs. BROWN: That’s exactly right. Awesome at both. That's why he’s such a fiend. SCARBOROUGH: A fiend? BROWN: Right. SCARBOROUGH: Well. BROWN: A fiend to be so good at it. HALPERIN: Fiend means something totally different in England.

Botched Surgery Leaves Woman With ‘Uniboob’ (VIDEO)

When Dinora Rodriguez, 40, went under the knife for a breast enhancement operation, what she got was something out of a horror movie, the Daily Mail reported. Her surgeon cut across two “pockets” of breast tissue, which allowed the implants to touch at the middle and create the look of a single breast, or “uniboob.” Rodriguez described the horror of waking up to the botched surgery to MSNBC: “My breasts looked really bad. It looked like I had one big breast instead of two. And the pain was terrible.” Even worse, the surgeon cut through nerves and muscle, resulting in shooting pains in her ribs. Without her permission, the surgeon also performed a nip/tuck procedure to her eyelids, leaving Rodriguez with eyes that will never close all the way, and no possible surgery to fix them, ABC News reported. Rodriguez, now featured in an advertising campaign by the American Board of Plastic Surgery to promote the dangers of using unqualified surgeons, sued her surgeon one year after the traumatic incident. Although she received enough to cover a reconstructive surgery, she said she still regrets not investigating the surgeon, she told ABC.com: “My biggest mistake is that I didn’t check any of her credentials. I found out later that she had done really bad surgeries on some other people too.” Malcolm Z Roth, President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) told the Daily Mailthat verifying a plastic surgeon is a member of the society is critical: “There is a misconception among consumers that as long as a doctor is certified in a medical field that he or she is qualified to practice plastic surgery. This is absolutely wrong and it is dangerous for patients. If you are considering a plastic surgery procedure it is critical that your doctor is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. This is the best way to be certain that he or she has completed the necessary training and meets certain standards to practice plastic surgery.” Watch the video above.
