US requests 25-year sentence for ex-child soldier Khadr

GUANTANAMO BAY (CUBA): US prosecutors on Saturday requested an extra 25 years in prison for former child soldier Omar Khadr, saying a stiff sentence for the Canadian detainee would “send a message to al-Qaida.” Khadr, in a deal with US authorities to avoid a life prison sentence, pleaded guilty last Monday to throwing a grenade that killed a US sergeant in Afghanistan in 2002, when Khadr was 15 years old….

MP Apologizes for ‘Ginger Rodent’ Slur

A comment by U.K. Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman has caused a stir within the international red-haired community. Harman has been forced to apologize to a colleague of hers, Danny Alexander, for calling him a “ginger rodent,” referring malignly to Alexander’s, dare I say, unique and quite exquisite hair color and skin pigmentation. —JCL The Guardian: Labour’s deputy leader Harriet Harman was forced to apologise today for branding a senior coalition minister a “ginger rodent”. Harman admitted she had been “wrong” to use the description about Liberal Democrat chief treasury secretary Danny Alexander in a speech. A statement issued by Labour said: “Harriet Harman has today apologised for her comment about Danny Alexander and says it was wrong.” Read more Related Entries October 30, 2010 SB 1070’s Day in Court October 29, 2010 Oklahoma Not OK With Shariah Law

HTC Desire HD vs. EVO 4G… fight!

By now you’ve probably read our Desire HD review and you’ve seen how HTC’s latest Android flagship stacks up against its Windows Phone 7 sibling, the HD7 . But how does it fare against the original Android giant, Sprint’s EVO 4G ? The devices share common displays (4.3-inch WVGA) and cameras (8 megapixel with dual LED flash) — but they use different radios (HSPA+ versus CDMA / WiMAX) and processors (first-generation Snapdragon in the EVO, second-gen in the Desire). In fact, the two phones actually have very different personalities when you consider the Desire HD’s aluminum unibody case and the EVO 4G’s HDMI output and kickstand. Take a look at these mighty beasts side-by-side in our gallery — along with a video after the break! Note: In the video we mention that the Desire HD features a front facing camera. DUBAI: A suspected Al-Qaeda parcel bomb found on a US-bound cargo jet was designed to blow up the plane , British premier David Cameron said Saturday, as Yemeni authorities arrested a suspect in the plot. But Cameron said that after examination of the device found at East Midlands airport in central England, British authorities “believe that the device was designed to go off on the airplane.” “There is no early evidence it was designed to take place over British soil but of course…

Sprint CEO claims WiMAX is here to stay, says Clear’s LTE trials were for potential multi-mode phones

Sprint and Clearwire have characterized LTE as complimentary to WiMAX time and again , but if that doesn’t allay your suspicions of turncoat tactics in the wireless data space, take it from Sprint CEO Dan Hesse’s lips. “Our 4G strategy is WiMAX, full stop!” he told GigaOM , adding that LTE isn’t necessarily on Sprint’s roadmap. Quizzed about WiMAX partner Clearwire’s LTE trials , however, he dropped a very intriguing hint about the possible shape of phones to come: “We have so much spectrum that we decided to do tests so in case we have multi-modal phones with other air interfaces, we can add LTE on top of WiMAX and run both networks,” he told the publication. There Is One Thing Republicans Lack

Article by WorldNews.com Correspondent Dallas Darling. The confrontation between the rich political ruler and Jesus is one of the most intriguing stories in the Gospels of Matthew, Luke and Mark. It is also very relevant to Republican leaders and financiers-assuming many are Christians and including those of the Tea Party and Christian Right-who spend hundreds of millions of dollars in campaigns and television ads to smear and beat their opponents by manipulating peoples fears over Social Security, immigration, universal healthcare, racism, and terrorism. Republicans have now been able to maintain an edge over their opponents by spending huge sums of monies, much of it coming from…
