The Bong Boys got spanked in Tuesday’s elections but they’re not giving up the effort to kill their brain cells with legal marijuana : Backers of Proposition 19, which would have legalized recreational marijuana sales and use in California, said Wednesday that they would try to return to the ballot in 2012 with another attempt to pass the measure. Although Prop. 19 lost handily Tuesday, the fact that millions of Californians supported it means marijuana advocates have a solid base of support, proponents said. “It’s clear that the electorate has spoken,” Dale Jones, a spokeswoman for Prop. 19, said at a news conference in Oakland. “We have proven that the skull-cracking criminalization has failed, and we won’t tolerate it any more. So we’ve already moved this conversation forward.” Actually, they proved that even in a heavily Democrat state the people don’t want to legalize pot. Voters in three other states rejected medical marijuana, so it was not a good day for the cannibus kooks. Wednesday wasn’t much better when 20 tons of their supply was seized at the border .

There are those who pick their pants based on the size of the camera they’re going to pocket for the day, and those who just pick their pants and take a camera if one fits. For that latter group Nikon ‘s latest, the Coolpix S5100 , may be a good choice. It has scored a “Recommended” review over at Photography Blog , delivering good quality images through its 5x zoom and 12.2 megapixel sensor despite that diminutive size — barely wider than a credit card. And, with a $179 MSRP, it won’t put too much of a hurting on those real pieces of plastic you wouldn’t dare leave home without. Sometimes you wonder,” MSNBC's Chuck Todd editorialized after a segment about conservative ballot initiatives that passed into law on Tuesday. Towards the bottom of the 9 a.m. EDT hour of “The Daily Rundown,” reporter Mara Schiavocampo looked at a handful of state ballot initiatives that voters had considered at the polls on Tuesday. Aside from Proposition 19 — the marijuana legalization measure which was rejected by California voters — Schiavocampo noted two conservative ballot questions that passed in Oklahoma: a measure declaring English the official language of the Sooner State and a measure forbidding consideration of Islamic sharia law or international law in rulings made by Oklahoma state judges.
