Thousands mourn Pakistan politician

Thousands of mourners have attended the funeral of a Pakistani politician who was stabbed in London in September in a killing that set off rioting in his hometown of Karachi. Imran Farooq, who lived in self-imposed exile after fleeing a crackdown on his party in 1992, was killed outside his London home. No one claimed responsibility, and his wife, Shumaila Imran, has appealed for help to solve the case. Authorities in London are still investigating. The body of the 50-year-old politician was flown home on Saturday and his funeral was held at a public park in Karachi, in the south of Pakistan. TV footage showed a large crowd at the…

PSA: Apple’s iPhone may not wake you up on time tomorrow morning

Apple is warning iPhone users that the daylight savings time glitch that plagued Europe affects US iPhones too, meaning you’ll wake up an hour late if you rely on the Clock app built into the device. Though Apple representatives say there’s a permanent fix in the works, it’s not due until iOS 4.2 , so the company suggests you set a new alarm today if you want to rise on time. Since the bug apparently only affects certain repeating alarms, you can create a new one-time alarm (i.e. with the repeat option set to “never”) instead, and the iPhone clock will take care of the rest. Don’t be the gal or guy blaming your tardiness on failed technology, folks, when it’s this easy to be able to point the finger at traffic, family, or spontaneous bouts of dance fever instead. Pope blasts Spain’s "aggressive" anti-church ways

By Nicole Winfield 8:51 AM Sunday Nov 7, 2010 Share Email Print Expand Shrink SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, Spain (AP) – Pope Benedict XVI criticised an “aggressive” anti-church sentiment in Spain that he said was reminiscent of the country’s bloody civil war era as he began a two-day visit Saturday to rekindle the faith. Benedict made clear his distaste for Spain’s liberal bent as he arrived in the pilgrimage city of Santiago di Compostela, where the remains of St. James the Apostle are said to be buried. He was warmly received by a crowd of thousands chanting “Viva el papa!” but there were hints of opposition as well. About 100 people demonstrated against the pope’s visit and a handful of gays…
