According to a recent study lead by Dr. Scott Frank, an associate professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, kids in Cleveland who text over 120 times a day are more likely than to have had sex or to have used drugs or alcohol than kids who don’t send as many massages. We’re guessing it’s because it takes in excess of 120 text messages for kids to line up their drugs, alcohol, or sex partners. To explain the findings, Frank puts it this way: “If parents are monitoring their kids’ texting and social networking, they’re probably monitoring other activities as well.” The study, based on a survey of 4,200 students, is one of the first to look at the correlation between texting and risky behavior in teenagers. Let’s take a look a the list of past winners: 2009 Bill Cosby 2008 George Carlin 2007 Billy Crystal 2006 Neil Simon 2005 Steve Martin 2004 Lorne Michaels 2003 Lilly Tomlin 2002 Bob Newhart 2001 Whoopi Goldberg 2000 Carl Reiner 1999 Jonathan Winters 1998 Richard Pryor Look at the lifetime of achievements that each of those previous winners can claim. Does anyone seriously believe that Tina Fey belongs in this class of comics? No. She’s a former actor on Saturday Night Live, has a moderately successful sitcom on NBC, and has made a movie or two with modest results. Oh, and she parodied Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. She came up with the “I can see Russia from my house” quote. NOW we know why she’s getting the award. Yesterday she was given the award and gave a backhand thanks to Sarah Palin while trashing other conservative women : Actress Tina Fey, who was granted the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Tuesday, paid a backhanded tribute to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and criticized the rise of conservative women in politics during her award acceptance speech. “I would be a liar and an idiot if I didn’t thank Sarah Palin for helping me get here tonight,” Fey said. “My partial resemblance and her crazy voice are the two luckiest things that have ever happened to me.” This award was as politically correct as they come. Fey did not have the lifetime of achievements in humor that the previous winners had – she was given this by people who wanted to show how clever they are as they bash conservatives.

The $4 fee applies to and will work with Sony’s Google TV devices as well, but the Revue is the only unit to get a price break up front. Dish is so far the sole TV provider that will let Google TV search through and control its compatible DVRs, and it’s put up a video demo to show how that works (embedded after the break.) Beyond the continuing questions about the Google TV platform itself, we’ll wait and see if Dish got the price right , those interested can check the press release for details on how to sign up. Continue reading …The director of the new film “Fair Game” – released Friday – is either blatantly dishonest, or astoundingly lazy. The movie, starring Sean Penn as former U.S. diplomat Joe Wilson and Naomi Watts as his embattled wife, CIA agent Valerie Plame, makes a number of claims on controversial issues that are demonstrably false. The Daily Caller's Jamie Weinstein did the legwork in demonstrating just how far from the truth some of the film's central claims are. Chief among them, perhaps unsurprisingly, is that Scooter Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, and other White House officials exerted political pressure on intelligence officials to cherrypick intelligence favorable to claims that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. read more
