Logitech’s Google TV event is just getting started, but Dish Network’s page is live and among extolling the virtues of an internet/satellite mashup, it points out Revue will be offered to its subscribers for (the previously rumored and presumably customer survey approved $179. We’ve been to this rodeo before (a few times , actually), but the smoke that leads to fire is getting far harder to ignore. Following a Bloomberg report in June that a Verizon iPhone was on track for a January 2011 release as well as independent confirmation from John Gruber, Yukari Iwatani Kane from The Wall Street Journal is now sounding mighty confident that the aforementioned plans are true. According to various people “briefed by Apple,” Jobs and Company will begin “mass producing a new iPhone by the end of 2010 that would allow Verizon Wireless to sell the smartphone early next year.” It’ll rely on a key Qualcomm chip as well as a CDMA radio, but curiously enough, there’s nary of a mention of LTE in this report. In closely related news, it’s bruited that Apple is also developing a separate iPhone model, though it’s unclear how soon VZW will be able to grab the fifth generation edition. ‘Course, it’s not exactly the shocker of the year to hear that Apple’s toiling on a new iPhone without a dubious antenna design , but the real question is this: will the Verizon iPhone beat AT&T’s elusive white iPhone 4 to market? We’re live from CTIA 2010 in San Francisco, where newly-appointed Verizon president and COO Lowell McAdam has taken the stage. He’s been on the job just five days now , but he’s already got a nice spot of news: Verizon will have LTE connections in 38 markets as soon as they flip the switch — up from the 30 football cities announced earlier this month. More exciting, a host of LTE devices are on the way, too: “Come CES at January, and we will show half-a-dozen smartphones and tablets from the top OEMs in the world that will be available in the first half of the year,” said McAdam. 8 to 12 megabits per second, here we come. Nah, this trio isn’t nearly as flashy as Motorola’s spate of new smartphones , but those still rockin’ the earpiece (or trying to avoid a ‘talking-while-driving’ ticket) may be interested in the outfit’s newest line of peripherals. Here at Fall CTIA 2010, Moto unveiled the Roadster in-car speakerphone alongside the Finiti and CommandOne Bluetooth headsets. From top to bottom, the Roadster is a clip-on device that goes on your visor, boasting dual-microphone noise cancellation technology and MotoSpeak — a technology that reads your texts allows and accepts voice replies. There’s an integrated battery that can withstand up to 20 hours of yapping (or three weeks of nothingness), and there’s even an FM transmitter thrown in for good measure. The Finiti BT headset was engineered with “extreme conditions” in mind, adding to the Elite series with a trifecta of microphones and the aforesaid MotoSpeak read-back technology. It can supposedly let you carry on a conversion with 40 mile per hour winds whirling around you, but we’re hoping you’d never actually be able to put it to the test. Finally, the CommandOne — for all intents and purposes — is simply a less rugged, differently styled version. The whole lot lands in Q4, but mum’s the word on pricing. You didn’t think BMW would be the only one releasing hideous in-car iPad integration , did you? Mercedes-Benz , a company we previously thought had a bit more class, has released images of its strikingly similar headrest-mounted iPad docks. The idea is that the person in the back seat can comfortably use and recharge their device whilst their manservant, bodyguard, or parental guardian whisks them to their next destination. Of course, reaching forward to touch the back of the headrest in front of you is hardly an ergonomically sound position, and since that could very well be where your face ends up in a major accident we’d love to see what star rating the tablet’s glass scores in a crash test. No price is given for the accessory at this point, but it’ll surely be rather more accessible than the truly egregious Brabus iBusiness S Class . If you’re the sort who fancies a digital picture frame and a stereo dock for your iPhone, Panasonic ‘s new MW-20 might just be the thing to converge and satiate those needs. The 9-inch frame can display pictures via SD card, 2GB internal memory, or an iPhone / iPod touch via the bundled dock — and if you’ve got the device connected, you can also play music video via the frame’s internal stereo speakers (there’s no indication of any audio out for using your own speaker system, however). Additionally, the MW-10 successor has a touted 15 different display patterns, including some calendar and clock functionality. Pictures taken with a Lumix camera? The MW-20 has a function that’ll group photos by style (i.e. all nighttime scenery). Look for it during your haze of Christmas shopping in late November for — and here’s the part that’s gonna sting — just one dollar shy of $250. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. So, OnAir is still hanging around, huh? It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard anything from the in-flight telephony company, with outfits like Row44 and Aircell dominating the space with their near-constant rollout of in-flight WiFi services here in the States. But for those traveling in and around Asia on Singapore Airlines, it sounds as if your flights are about to get a bit more connected, and potentially more chatty. A new in-flight connectivity system based on Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband (and a collaboration with OnAir) is expected to provide passengers on medium- and long-haul flights with “access to WiFi internet and mobile telephony services.” This should, in theory, enable patrons to send and receive SMS text messages with their GSM-compatible handsets, send and receive emails on their smartphones (and laptops, we presume?) and potentially make and receive voice calls. SIA expects to have the first of its fleet equipped in the first half of 2011, with introductions to happen in progressive fashion on its Airbus A380, Airbus A340-500 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. We hate to point out the obvious, but it’s about time you threw procrastination in the nearest dumpster and started thinking about your holiday shopping duties. For the budding guitarist in everyone’s life (admit it, there’s always one ), Tascam has a cutesy new guitar tuner that’s both a) affordable and b) Stocking Stuffer-approved at just 3.77- x 0.71- x 1.57-inches. The TC-1S claims to be the world’s first solar-powered tuner, complete with a rugged silicon wrap, a USB port for cloudy days and shadowy clubs, a sweet carrying clip, integrated microphone and a quarter-inch input for guitar and bass tuning. It can even be calibrated to an external source, and it’ll be available in a half-dozen hues (black, pink, orange, green, blue, white) later this month. Okay ASUS , you win. We can’t keep all your leaked Eee Pad prototypes straight anymore. We’re guessing this is some sort of counter-intelligence move you’re making, leaking report after conflicting report of various sizes and operating systems for the things, and now we have word of yet another model joining the hypothetical fray. This one’s supposedly called the EP90, an 8.9-inch tablet with a 1024 x 600 display, storage of 16 or 32GB, a dual-core 1GHz processor paired with Tegra graphics and, apparently, some flavor if Microsoft Windows if reports of it running Office are to be believed.
