Police in Arkansas have managed to recover a stolen iPhone thanks to the help of the Find My iPhone app, following reports of a theft in a local bar. According to The News Star, police were alerted to the theft following a night in a local bar in Monroe, Arkansas, when a woman noticed her iPhone was missing, along with an electronic cigarette and a small amount of cash. Officers used the app to track the phone to a location in Monroe, and the suspect was taken in for questioning over the incident. Admitting to being in the same bar as the victim, the thief pled a misunderstanding but was nevertheless charged with the felony theft of the iPhone. This is not the only incident. Find My iPhone has also been instrumental in arrests in Atlanta, Georgia, over the suspected armed robbery of five women, while an earlier armed robbery attempt in Los Angeles was foiled by the app. Simplikate a mobile application developer that works with iPhone and other platforms, suggested that freely available tracking technologies were an essential part of safeguarding your phone and data. “iPhones can be expensive and easily be resold by criminals. This makes them and their owners a direct target for opportunistic thieves. Through the use of apps like Find My iPhone, handset owners can protect their phone and personal data, guard against theft and ensure their phone might be recoverable.” Find My iPhone is an app that users can set up to provide GPS tracking of the location of their iPhone. It works by displaying a map of the phone’s last known location, which law enforcement officers can use to pursue further enquiries and lines of investigation. The map updates with the best information available, drawing on the phone’s location whenever it’s switched on. In the case of the Monroe arrest, the map pointed directly to the suspect’s home in the local area. This was enough for police to find the phone and return it to its rightful owner. We can expect seasoned criminals to be hearing stories like this, and changing the way they operate as a result. The app has already helped countless iPhone owners locate their phones, whether through theft or loss, and it continues to be a useful aid for the police. iPhone thefts are on the increase, with some states reporting as much as a 40% rise in reported incidents. As the latest models are released, strong demand and high prices make iPhones a prime target for criminals. The trend applies in the UK too, with 300 iPhones stolen in London every single day, at an estimated cost of around £17m ($25m) annually. Find My App is available for free download from the app store. While it cannot guarantee you will be able to track your iPhone into the future, downloading and installing the app can at least give you a fighting chance of recovering your phone in the event of a theft. One of the first things most business owners do when starting out is to design and order their promotional stationery. Letterheads, business cards and other papers are usually printed with the logo, tagline and contact details for the business concerned. These documents are then used for communicating with clients, suppliers and any other organization or individual that comes into contact with the business. In many ways, promotional stationery is an impression of the business it represents, in the eyes of customers and prospects. The logo is like a personal tag, identifying everything that comes from the same organization. It allows customers, suppliers and other entities to group communications at a glance, and creates either a positive or negative impression of your business from the outset. But do the benefits of promotional stationery extend beyond simply identifying the author of business documents? Well-executed promotional stationery by HALO can increase your sales. When mailing out documents to clients and prospects, your stationery says a lot about the organization. A law firm printing on cheap quality copier paper will instantly be regarded as inferior to the firm printing on thicker, higher quality paper. Similarly, an effective logo triumphs over a weaker logo visually in creating an impression of your entity. While it is wrong to judge any book by its cover, promotional stationery is the first impression of your business in a lot of cases. Much of the sales process is wrapped up in these early interactions – if you look and sound credible, the likelihood of landing bigger and better sales is significantly increased. Your promotional stationery can turn seemingly innocuous paperwork into an effective marketing tool. Invoices, for example, tend to be regarded as more administrative documents. But for a business issuing an invoice, using custom promotional stationery ensures that the recipient can find your details at a later date if they require your services again. By building the visual recognition of your materials through consistent use of promotional stationery, you can help ensure that customers remember you exist. As a marketing tool, promotional stationery is definitely non-invasive. While stationery does advertise your business, it’s not exactly shouting your message from the rooftops. But that doesn’t mean it can’t work. When you are sending out quotes or letters to different organizations, appearance is everything. A memorable visual, or a design that stands out through showing the benefits of your business, can be used to ensure that the materials you send actually make an impression on prospective decision-makers. Customized stationery is unlikely to overhaul your business alone. Marketing is a complex process, and there are countless variables that factor in to when and with whom clients choose to work. But from the point of view of securing as many selling opportunities as possible, quality custom stationery is a must. It takes quality stationery and design to get your brand on the desks of decision-makers, and to generate a level of recognition that will strengthen your commercial position. Age of Separatism and ‘Beginning’ of History?

Article by WN.com Correspondent Dallas Darling The gradual decline of the United States Empire, starting with its colonial wars in Indochina, and the more obvious and rapid collapse of the Soviet Empire marked the beginning of history, not its end. A new age has dawned with the rays of popular Separatist movements, rejecting quixotic efforts at homogenizing the world in either communist or capitalist liberal market images. More and more break-away sub-nations and sub-states are revealing that neither system was the best for humankind, and in doing so, a new and diverse history of the world is being recorded. Both Russia and the West were founded on and greatly influenced by ideological…

Morsi supporters hold fresh Egypt protests

Supporters of Egypt’s deposed president have marched towards security headquarters in Cairo, raising fears of new clashes as the EU’s foreign policy chief met local officials. The marches on Monday night came despite a warning from the National Defence Council late on Sunday that it would take “decisive and firm action” against demonstrators if they went beyond their right to peaceful protest. The military also issued a similar warning to demonstrators not to approach military or security installations. Tensions have been running high since at least 72 people were killed at a rally in support of Mohamed Morsi in…
