Textile Artists Take Over Pop-up Shop

Photo: B.Alter What a lovely surprise: five women textile designers have taken over a local shop and turned it into a teaching and display area for two weeks. Called Bricolage , the women are all involved with the creation of sustainable textile art. Bricolage ‘s products include delicate screenprinted wallpapers; original hand-printed fabrics; hand and machine knit cushions and up cycled quilting. Their beautiful works are on display and they will also be holding one day workshops on darning, smocking and patchworks.

China Struggles to Ease 60-Year Drought and Save Wheat Crops

The Guardian has an excellent report on the state of water in China when it comes to wheat production. “Local newspapers have been filled with stories of the drought’s impact on the “wheat basket” provinces of Henan, Anhui and Hunan. About 2.6 million people and 2.8 million livestock are affected.
