E+Co: Non-Profit Funds Sustainable Start-Ups in Developing World (Video)

Photo: Josh Weinstein Whether or not the developing world does so sustainably is one of the great questions of our era — and the answer relies as much on its national leadership as its aspiring entrepreneurs. As such, there’s a huge opportunity to define business culture throughout the world in a sustainable context. Which makes E+Co , a 15 years young non-profit that connects budding green entrepreneurs with the funding they need to get (or keep) rolling, more important now than ever. Could a Math Formula Save Species from Extinction?

Photo via trindade.joao Researchers have found that the loss of a key species in an ecosystem can cause a cascade effect with many other species dying off as well. However, Northwestern University physics professor Adilson Motter and his student, Sagar Sahasrabudhe are working on a theory illustrating that a mathematical understanding of how species rely upon, and react to, other species can show us if and when species will go extinct, and provide the information necessary to prevent those extinctions. Could using math help us conserve species?… Read the full story on TreeHugger
