Budapest – The alumina plant behind the recent toxic waste spill in western Hungary is to resume production from noon Friday, a government spokesman confirmed on Thursday. National disaster management chief Gyorgy Bakondi, the government commissioner placed in charge of the plant’s owner MAL Ltd, had announced the previous day that it would reopen by the end of the week.
